What does sustainable progress look like? 🌿 The Government Digital Sustainability Alliance (GDSA) brings together the government policy owner for Digital Sustainability, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), current and prospective government suppliers and supply chain to drive the meeting of sustainability commitments. 🌿 This video gives a good account of the purpose https://lnkd.in/e98Upekw In short, the GDSA is set of working groups that feed legislation on how, and when we should tackle carbon emissions in digital infrastructure. Digital infrastructure can mean any working part of a building or data centre that can have an IoT solution applied to it. In basic terms, this means that the legislation in the UK is becoming more accurate, and will inevitably lead to a demand for more scrutiny, and therefore accuracy vs financial penalty. ℹ This is an absolutely positive step, to bring together the leaders in, and users of, tech (which is essentially all of us, right?) and examine how we might better tackle the enormous problems created by the production, distribution, installation and general usage of technology, and effectively lower the carbon impact throughout.
