Green Light for £70m Sustainable Living Project in Manchester Plans for a £70 million sustainable build-to-rent (BTR) development in Manchester city centre have been unanimously approved by Manchester City Council. The 23-storey residential scheme, proposed by property investment and development company Zephyr X, will be located at the corner of Carnarvon Street and Cheetham Hill Road. The project will feature 237 high-quality one- and two-bedroom apartments, alongside a ground-floor commercial space, and is expected to break ground next year. Zephyr X Managing Director Graham Haydon-White expressed his gratitude to the council, saying: “Our development represents an exciting opportunity to support the ongoing regeneration of this vibrant corner of Manchester, addressing the strong demand for premium city-centre accommodation. We are eager to appoint contractors and commence work on site next year.” Designed by award-winning Manchester architects HawkinsBrown, the building aims to add an elegant touch to the city’s skyline. It will complement the growing cluster of developments in the Great Ducie Street, Green Quarter, and Red Bank areas, blending sustainability with modern design. People in Belfast are being asked to have their say on the design of a new £100 million tourist attraction in the city centre. Belfast City Council has launched a public consultation on Belfast Stories, inviting people to explore concept designs for the project. Along with a first look at designs, the public will have the chance to learn more about Belfast Stories, a project which will be a public space, visitor attraction and creative hub. The design team supporting Belfast Stories includes a partnership between Oslo-based architects Snøhetta and Belfast-based TODD Architects Ltd., who are leading on the architectural and structural design. Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) are engaged to design the visitor experience with Barker Langham in the role of Curator and Interpretation Planner. Daniel Berlin, Senior Architect at Snøhetta stated: “Our aim is for Belfast Stories to become a familiar and loved feature of Belfast’s cityscape, creating an orientation point for everyone in the city. The project will regenerate this part of Belfast city centre, and we believe it has the potential to transform how both residents and visitors interact with and navigate the city.”
