A fascinating development in the digital infrastructure space! Blackstone's $16.1B acquisition of AirTrunk showcases the massive investor appetite for data centres, driven by surging AI and cloud computing demand. A few key takeaways: 1. This deal's scale ($16.1B) highlights just how valuable data centre assets have become. 2. It's Blackstone's largest APAC investment ever, signalling its bullishness on the region's digital growth. 3. The success of Blackstone's previous QTS acquisition (10B to 25B valuation) likely emboldened this move. 4. Major players like Brookfield, KKR, and Berkshire Partners are all vying for a piece of this "picks and shovels" play on the AI boom. As AI and cloud adoption accelerate, expect continued intense competition for these mission-critical assets. The question is: how much runway is left for growth, and at what point might valuations become stretched? Curious to hear others' thoughts on this trend. Is this a smart long-term bet by Blackstone and others, or are we approaching a peak? #PrivateEquity #DigitalInfrastructure #AI #CloudComputing #InvestmentStrategy
