To the incredible women who have received this award: your achievements are a testament to your hard work, creativity, and perseverance. We are deeply honoured to share that our founder and mentor has been awarded the title of IT Entrepreneur of 2024. In an era where technology is reshaping every corner of our lives, our role in crafting this digital future has never been more vital. The path to this moment, however, has been anything but easy. You are role models for all of us, and your success is not just your own; it is a beacon of hope for countless young girls who look up to you and see what is possible. You have opened doors, and it is now our collective duty to ensure those doors remain open for others. In a world where technology is rapidly transforming every aspect of our lives, the role of women in shaping this digital landscape is more crucial than ever. Yet, the journey has not been without its challenges. Women in IT often face unique obstacles—whether it's battling stereotypes, overcoming biases, or navigating an industry that has been historically male-dominated. But it is precisely these challenges that make your accomplishments so extraordinary. The women we celebrate today have not only broken barriers but have also redefined what it means to lead in the tech industry. You are pioneers, innovators, and change-makers who have turned visions into reality. In closing, we want to encourage each of you to continue dreaming big, challenging norms, and pushing boundaries. The world of technology needs your ideas, your leadership, and your unique perspectives. Together, we can build a future where the tech industry is as diverse, inclusive, and innovative as the world it serves. Thank you, and congratulations. Your work is not only shaping the future of IT but also inspiring a generation to follow in your footsteps. Let us continue to innovate, inspire, and change the world—one brilliant idea at a time. #WomenInTech #WomenInIT #TechLeadership #Innovation #DiversityInTech #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInBusiness #TechEntrepreneurship #ITEntrepreneur #TechVue360

West Tech Fest Women 🙌 What an awesome way to kick off December! It was a pleasure to meet some very impressive women including Alice Redgate, Rochelle Bacon, Melissa Humphries and Rosie Barnes as well as see some familiar faces: Elizabeth Knight and Cassie Arangio. It was truly inspirational to listen to a powerful keynote from Elaine Stead, but not without reigniting my anger at the persistent barriers that women face in entrepreneurship and the media. ❌️Female founded start ups receive only 2% of venture capital funding in Australia. ❌️The bravery and vulnerability of women like Elaine in sharing their stories and their struggles, is often weaponised and used against them. ❌️ As Srimathi Shivashankar articulated in her fireside chat with Michelle de Clifford, there is still a huge amount of expectations on women and guilt around motherhood and the interplay with pursuing your career. But there is hope. Srimathi Shivashankar said that when she pursued her computer science degree in India, 50% of her cohort was female. I am hopeful that I will see cohorts of 50% female computer science students in Perth universities in my lifetime, but we have a long way to go. Change starts with individuals making small, consistent steps towards a different future. That means championing the women in your life. That means knowing what you're worth. That means surrounding yourself with people who bring out the best in you and want you to succeed. What's one thing you will do today to support the women in your life? Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world, indeed its the only thing that has - Margaret Mead.

✨WCN Recommends: INNOVEIT✨ Let’s face another uncomfortable truth: Also in the start-up landscape, women are still significantly underrepresented. A study by Boston Consulting Group and SISTA reveals: - Only 10% of all newly founded start-ups in Europe were founded by women. - Only 7% of start-ups in finance rounds were women-led. - And only 2% of those securing capital were led by women. These numbers underscore a pressing issue in our entrepreneurial landscape. The #EITCommunity is committed to closing this gap, with initiatives that have increased the proportion of women-led start-ups in their portfolio to an impressive 25%. Everyone can play a role in standing up for equal opportunities. One way to connect with like-minded people and drive this movement forward is by attending the #INNOVEIT conference in Helsinki on 19 November. This EIT Community event, taking place on day 0 of #Slush, is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs from all sectors and offers a great opportunity to network with pioneers shaping the future of technology. I've been working in technology and innovation since I left university nearly 20 years ago. I've got used to being one of few women in the room, when tech projects are being discussed. It's great to see that things have started to change, albeit slowly. See my latest blog post for a point in case: #womenintech #diversity Nicholas Milton Jude Pearson https://lnkd.in/esNKBVPT

Sometimes, you meet incredible people who are on the same page as you when it comes to supporting women in entrepreneurship and tech. Like 🌞 Alice Pavin, who is now onboarding a small cohort of 10 women who, in the new year, will explore entrepreneurship in 100 days. In addition to the basics of entrepreneurship, the program will tackle common hurdles for women, such as imposter syndrome, risk-taking and a lack of role models. If you're a woman thinking about starting a company, this could be a great start. You can learn more about the program at https://lnkd.in/ehX6xmqe. PS. If you'd like to learn who Alice is, check out episode 51 of Women Disrupting Tech at https://lnkd.in/e769KxvP.

💹 The numbers shared are indeed a stark reminder of the persistent gender gap in the startup ecosystem. While it's heartening to see initiatives like the #EITCommunity making strides by boosting the proportion of women-led startups to 25%, there is still much work to be done. These statistics highlight the systemic challenges women entrepreneurs face, but they also point to an untapped potential that, when realized, can lead to transformative change in the innovation landscape ⭐ . The fact that only 2% of women-led startups secure capital is not just a missed opportunity for these founders—it's a missed opportunity for investors and society at large. 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ We need to move beyond awareness and focus on action.
