We're heading into conference season - how do you get your company to sign it off?? A recurring issue for those in the Global Mobility world. I had a fascinating conversation with Becky Woods, SHRM-SCP,GPHR, Global Mobility Senior Director at ADP, who generously shared her expertise on securing budget approval for conferences. She also discusses which events are worth attending if you’re new to the industry and how to stay on top of trends. Here are a few key takeaways from our discussion: 🛫 Plan conferences at least three years in advance to optimize attendance and budgeting, ensuring that important events are covered consistently. 📅 By combining conference attendance with other business trips, your can team reduce costs and maximize the value of each trip. ﹩After conferences, presenting a summary of key takeaways and potential program improvements is a great way to demonstrate the value of attendance. A big thanks to Becky for dropping these golden nuggets! One of the key questions I've been asked following our recent status change is: "How can I get involved with the upcoming Institute for Social Value Conference in November?" If you're interested in our theme, ‘Productivity, Procurement, and Partnerships – with People at the Centre’, there are many ways to get involved: as a speaker, delegate, sponsor, partner, contributor, exhibitor, or in other capacities. Please feel free to get in touch here: https://lnkd.in/eyGqcBBP or in the comments section - maybe even both! (Note that Social Value UK members will have priority access for some roles). For anyone curious about the theme, the focus on 'Productivity' as a key topic came up during a meeting I had with Jonathan Reynolds MP, where we discussed how optimising social value within organisations can boost productivity at both micro and macro levels. This was in the context of the current debate around productivity, summed up neatly by Chatham House, which stated that: "Raising productivity growth is the only way the UK will be able to meet its domestic and international objectives over the long term" https://lnkd.in/eivzQqpu More details about the conference are available here: https://lnkd.in/ecQyuMNT I look forward to seeing everyone there. I’m keen to meet as many of you as possible, so please do introduce yourself when you see me! #SocialValue #Productivity #Procurement #Partnerships #Conference2024 #SocialImpact
