Here's an ugly truth about us agencies: Most of the decisions we make around optimizations are based on some data and a lot of intuition. That's why you see a lot of small agencies (1-15 headcount, including contractors) because that intuition is HARD to scale. -- Let's break this down a little bit... Let's say we built a tool that aggregated industry, persona, objective, funnel stage, CTA, and other #linkedinads benchmarks; which feature would matter most to you? A. Performance comparison against benchmarks by Industry B. Performance comparison against benchmarks by Persona C. Performance comparison against benchmarks by Objective D. Performance comparison against benchmarks by Funnel Stage E. Performance comparison against benchmarks by CTA F. Performance comparison against benchmarks by (fill in the blank) -- What did you pick? And more importantly, why am I asking you this? At our last conference, we talked about how Impactable - B2B Ads Agency differentiates itself in the marketplace. Yes - if you've been to our site, you've probably seen us everywhere we go. Yes - if you're on LinkedIn, you know we give away a ton of content. Yes - if we've talked, you know we use LinkedIn's API to do non-native things. But at the rate we're growing, one of the most valuable assets we have is data. Data is verified intuition. -- So, my question was a bit of a trick. There are already benchmarking tools out there. And while some of the other things like CTA, funnel stage, or campaign objective would be cool to benchmark against, the coolest thing to do would be to benchmark against all of them! How is your "Cold Website Visit campaign targeting CMOs at 51-200-sized SaaS companies in the US" performing compared to others? What about your "Retargeting Lead Gen campaign targeting Network and Cloud Engineers at 10,000+ sized companies in NORAM, LATAM, and EMEA" performing compared to others? -- The people who have spent hundreds of hours on the ad platform know what "good" looks like -- but that's not everyone in their agency. It's not everyone in our agency. I'm not throwing shade at anyone else here -- this is hard. Our old model broke when we hit 100 ad clients, and we had to shift to a pod model to keep growing. Strategist + Account Coordinator + Campaign Specialist But even that won't last forever. What happens when we're managing 500 ad accounts? If you can shorten the learning curve, you'll generate results sooner. My prediction is that by this time next year, we'll have capabilities that make using our data a staple for LinkedIn marketers. And while we'll always be a LinkedIn agency, our biggest revenue source will undoubtedly be our data capabilities. Stay tuned!

I've interviewed 100+ paid marketing candidates this year. 🎯 The skills gap is real. And it's widening at an alarming rate. Here's what I'm seeing in the trenches: • Strategic thinking is rare - Many candidates struggle to align campaigns with broader business goals - Few can articulate a cohesive, long-term marketing strategy • Data analysis skills are lacking - Basic metrics understanding is common, but deep insights are scarce - A/B testing knowledge often superficial, missing nuanced interpretation • Benchmark knowledge is surface-level - Industry standards often misunderstood or outdated - Limited ability to contextualize performance against competitors • Time management is a major challenge - Difficulty balancing multiple campaigns and platforms - Reactive approach rather than proactive planning • Holistic understanding is almost non-existent - Siloed knowledge of individual channels (e.g., only LinkedIn or Google) - Limited grasp of how paid efforts integrate with organic and other marketing initiatives This matters. A common challenge in the B2B SaaS world is increasing the MQLs to SQLs conversion rate and doing so cost-effectively. Through my daily conversations with clients who are focused on this very objective, I’ve uncovered a few Google Ad strategies that make a difference. 👇 ✅ Keyword Optimization: By zeroing in on high-intent keywords, ads reach more of the right people. For a client in the document processing space, targeting more specific, solution-seeking keywords led to attracting leads further down the funnel. ✅ Tailored Landing Pages: By customizing landing pages for different ideal customer personas (ICPs) in specific countries, you increase relevance and user engagement. For a healthcare platform client, this resulted in higher quality scores, which directly lowered their cost per click (CPC). ✅ Smart Bidding Strategies: Implementing Google’s smart bidding to focus on conversions rather than clicks is a game-changer. For an accounting software client, leveraging Google's smart bidding focused our spending on leads most likely to convert, optimizing their ad spend and reducing junk leads. ✅ Ad Copy Personalization: Writing ad copies that address pain points of specific ICPs increase ad relevance and engagement. And it’s no secret that better engagement rates lead to improved ad performance with reduced costs. One standout result was a 53% increase in conversion rates while simultaneously seeing a 26% decrease in ad spend for a client in the recruitment platform space. The takeaway? There’s so many Google Ad optimizations at the foundation level that, when applied correctly, it's entirely possible to increase your MQL to SQL conversion rate while also being mindful of your advertising budget.
