In yet another sign that post covid funding options are still funky - when the fundraising marketplace Equitise can’t secure another round of appropriate funding 🤯. Obviously the funding marketplace is more competitive since it’s evolution in 2016, that said I am sure there are plenty of nervous “angel investors” whom may previously participated in this crowdfunded space. We convert social capital to working capital...but you have to have social capital and your social capital has to include people who can (very different from would) fund your venture. Step 1 in crowdfunding, find the right marketing company and ensure you have the budget to use them.

About Community Funding At the core of the crowdfunding industry is the belief that companies can attract a crowd of investors to provide funding for their business. How to attract that crowd still confounds many of the crowdfunding portals and “professionals”. The worst advice you can get is to build up your list of friends and followers and expect that they will fund your business. That may work if you only want to raise a small amount of money. To raise $1 million or more, you are going to need a lot of followers. I have seen estimates in excess of 50,000 followers for a company to successfully raise $1 million. It can take a long time to accumulate that many followers. Part of the rationale of community funding is the idea that it is not expensive, Send a series of e-mails to people who are already familiar with you or your product sounds like a good idea, but experience shows that it just does not work.   There are consumer facing businesses, like games, that are likely to raise funds using Reg. CF. For most campaigns, hiring a professional marketing company that specializes in selling investments, continues to be the better course of action.
