Thirteen years ago I walked into the corporate headquarters of Acquia as a new employee. I was handed a new laptop in a box and pointed toward the area where the Support Department sat. That began a journey of learning and discovery with many colleagues becoming friends and many problems being investigated and solved. I was a TAM, led a few Support teams, built an engineering team, and even worked in IT. I've continually been on the lookout for how to do the job a little better, a little faster, and pass that knowledge on to others. And then in October along with so many others, I found out that my time at Acquia is coming to a close at the end of February. I have made a career of seeing what needs to be fixed and convincing leadership to allow me the chance to solve the problem. I've created teams, built tooling, taught problem solving, and investigated the deeper puzzles. But I got caught in between. In between teams, in between positions, in between ideas. I made the mistake of putting the discovery of how my skills could be used to help Acquia on the back burner. I had to focus on helping the Support Department through the tough task of reorganizing and downsizing and was going to rebuild and rebrand myself after the dust had settled. But that left me more vulnerable than I had anticipated. Now, I get to be more prescriptive on what it is I want to tackle next. I have to get out and redefine my skills, show my drive, and find a company that I can dig in and help get their problems solved. Not sure yet what that will look like, but I’m sure it will be an interesting next step. Thanks to Kent Gale for taking a chance on me 13 years ago. It's been quite an adventure.

Job hunting is a numbers game. One of Newton's Laws clearly states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We are about to take massive, massive, massive action fam. This nonsense here has gone on way too long and it ends today. Product Gym is about to put you back in the driver's seat. If you haven't gotten your resume reviewed yet then you need to reach out to my man Stewart Finney asap rocky. The last thing you are going to want is to a hold of a real urgent hiring manager and your resume isn't ready AND/OR your interview game is not on point. The first thing we have to do is drive as many applications to create as many interview opportunities as possible. What I realized is that taking massive action is practically impossible if you are feeling mentally defeated and demoralized.
