Our colleague Clémentine coujard prepared a #BLOG article about how the New European Bauhaus Values and Working principles are perceived and implemented in ongoing #EU-funded #R&D projects. This article comes as a result of the 1st workshop organized by the Nebula B4P project dedicated to the New European Bauhaus at the Sustainable Places Conference this year. The objectives of the session were to raise awareness about the #NEB amongst a mixed audience of experts from the built environment, question how they address the NEB value in their respective R&D projects, and identify the remaining challenges towards the further implementation of the new Bauhaus. We are organizing a symposium on Thursday, 18.04.2024 to provide a special stage for current projects, in particular the urban strategy. This offers the opportunity to invite numerous internationally renowned experts to talk, discuss current developments in the field of urban planning and generate conclusions for Linz: To what extent are the values of the New European Bauhaus established in urban development? What does a city need to achieve in order to be sustainable, climate-neutral and inclusive? How can we promote civic engagement for our own city? The New European Bauhaus is an initiative centred around accessible, inclusive, beautiful and green spaces. Under Horizon Europe, projects funded under this initiative are rather large and perhaps a bit complex to handle, today I'm sharing two opportunities for smaller municipalities to profit from with smaller and more manageable budgets.   A. The NEB prizes 2025 The NEB prizes 2025 will award 22 winners and runners-up in the four well established categories based on the thematic axes of transformation that guide the delivery of the New European Bauhaus. The prizes range from EUR 10,000 - 30,000. B. Boost for small municipalities   With the support of the European Parliament, the EU is launching a special initiative to empower small municipalities by awarding 20 prizes of EUR 30,000 each. The NEB boost to small municipalities aims to provide support to small players that want to develop projects that are inclusive, sustainable and beautiful by helping them to overcome early barriers. They must focus on the built environment - such as the construction, renovation, and adaptation of buildings and public spaces - through the lenses of circularity, carbon neutrality, cultural heritage preservation, affordable housing solutions, and regeneration of rural or urban spaces.  Eligible projects should have achieved a sufficient level of maturity and demonstrate an emerging participatory approach. Applicants should emphasize the steps already undertaken to implement the project, securing political support, actively involve citizens, end-users and key stakeholders, but the project cannot yet be finalised at the time of submission of the application.    What are you waiting for? We are thrilled to announce the development of a new Cambridge International School - Bratislava campus in Bratislava’s Patrónka district. 🎉 This ambitious project, in collaboration with Bratislavský samosprávny kraj and Design Factory, represents a perfect combination of innovation, sustainability, and respect for history. A modern educational and cultural hub featuring classrooms, labs, creative spaces, and sports facilities will welcome up to 500 students. Green spaces, pedestrian and bike-friendly areas, and other outdoor facilities will be also available to the public. Restoration of a 19th-century building and creation of a Holocaust Memorial aims to honour the site’s historical heritage. Thanks to our Investment Manager Frantisek Paller, who leads the project, we are one step closer towards fulfilling our vision of creating a learning ecosystem that inspires innovation, creativity, and personal growth, while elevating the overall quality of education in Slovakia. Excited and proud to share our recent publication in Agathon, developed with Nature-CityLAB, ina Macaione, Alessandro Raffa, and in collaboration with De Urbanisten, Marcello Corradi, and Timo Stevens! The paper investigates nature-based, climate-adaptive streetscapes as a tool for urban regeneration, focusing on the City of Matera and the role of research-driven design processes. It reflects on De Urbanisten's innovative spatial approach to addressing contemporary urban challenges, emphasizing climate adaptation and nature inclusivity. Moreover, it examines the Research by Design experimentation for the Belgian City of Antwerp, which led to the creation of a comprehensive Waterplan and the implementation of the pilot project De Wapper. Grateful for this enriching collaboration and the chance to contribute to advancing resilient and adaptive urban futures!
