Everyone at ProTec is deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of David Mitchell at the age of 81. David founded Chesham Chemicals in the early 1980s, one of the first specialty ingredient distributors in the UK, which later became Chesham Speciality Ingredients before its acquisition by Azelis in 2011. He dedicated decades of his life to the personal care industry, retiring in 2010. Those who had the pleasure of working with or knowing David will fondly remember his warm, kind personality and infectious laugh. He was truly a wonderful person who left a lasting mark on the industry and in our hearts.
Thank you, David, for giving me the opportunity to start my sales career with Chesham Chemicals back in the mid-90's. I couldn't have asked for better bosses in you and Alan. It was such a great, friendly, nurturing and patient (especially with me!) atmosphere to work in. I learned an awful lot from the both of you, especially as you taught us to approach everything with a smile on our face, regardless of the situation. I will continually strive to be as good a leader and friend as you were. Rest in peace, David, and my deepest condolences to Linda and the family.
I am truly sorry to hear this news. What a lovely man, who took me on as a consultant when business was at the tough early stages. A keen fisherman, we fished for trout one day and he gave me a fly to try and it caught all the fish! So many happy memories, so much to thank him for, so sad to hear that this giant of the industry has left us. He was beyond kind and generous.
One of the truly nice guys in the industry. I started working with David back in the 1980’s when Chesham were distributing small lots of PC ingredients for Unichema. Stayed in touch when I moved to Westbrook Lanolin in 1989 then NK a decade later . Always enjoyed my visits to Harrow and getting together at the annual trade shows.
What really sad news. I already miss him, his warm, friendly manner and his infectious laugh. He really was a wonderful person. Rest in peace, your Bavarian friend.
Sad news. Always good natured and generous with a great sense of humour and infectious laugh - always joking about giving the shirt off his back as he booked exhibition space. David’s legacy lives on in the hugely positive impact he made on those who came into contact with him. He set a great example as a businessman and as a person.
Very sad. Such a lovely person.
He was a really good Guy and sad to read that he has passed away
Such sad news. I can't ever remember him not smiling - he was a joy to be around.
Sad news indeed. I do remember David when I was working with Chesham as my distributor in the UK. A great guy who was able to lead a great team. Condolences to his family.

1moDavid was the most fantastic man I ever met in so many ways. I would not be where I am today without David’s help and support and the belief he had in me to take over the reigns at Chesham. He lead by example and always had a smile on his face and I learned so much from him. We travelled to many places together all over the world having some fantastic memories. My heart goes out to Linda, Fiona and all the family that he loved so much. David I will never forget you and rest in peace dear friend thinking that you brought so much happiness to everyone that had the pleasure to know you. Alan
