It’s International Autoinflammatory Awareness month. A month where patients living with these rare conditions can feel seen, heard, understood and supported. Many of these patients have had a long journey to diagnosis and treatment and have been overlooked by the medical systems. Patients often live with debilitating and sometimes life threatening symptoms, including macrophage activation syndrome and organ failure. Patients and families need to know that their communities - especially our governments and hospitals, stand with them, and recognize there conditions are ligitimate and severe and put funding support towards #rareresearch, to help create better outcomes for patients so we are no longer left to feel dismissed and invisible. Follow International Autoinflammatory Awareness Month, for more information on how to support patients and families in your community now. #shine4autoinflammatory #august4autoiflammatory #autoinflammatoryawareness #raredisease #healthcanada Autoinflammatory Alliance Canadian Rare Disease Network (CRDN) Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders Cassie and Friends: A Society for Children with Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases Arthritis Society Canada Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance Take a Pain Check Foundation https://lnkd.in/e6h5_6XR

AstraZeneca is at the forefront of addressing the urgent challenges faced by rare disease patients across Asia. It is estimated that about 400 million people are affected by a rare disease worldwide, more than half of whom remain undiagnosed. When someone does get a proper diagnosis, it has taken them five years on average across an often-frustrating journey of numerous doctor visits and misdiagnoses. Ensuring more and more equitable healthcare access for people living with rare diseases has never been more critical, particularly in emerging markets. Through innovative strategies and global partnerships, AstraZeneca is breaking barriers to accelerate access to life-saving treatments, transforming the rare disease landscape. We are committed to ensuring that no patient is left behind. Soraya Bekkali, MD Senior Vice President at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, shared more about our approach in Rare at BERNAMA Malaysia's 'The Nation' talk show, hosted by Nadiah Hanim Abdul Latif, highlighting our dedication to making a global impact. https://lnkd.in/ghCM7-8G #AstraZeneca #RareDiseases #HealthcareInnovation #GlobalPartnerships #Asia #NoPatientLeftBehind

Our book uncovers the REAL story of COVID-19, shedding light on an unusual narrative. It challenges the norm by questioning why bats, an unexpected source, unleashed a global pandemic within six months. Moreover, it delves into the ethical dilemma of whose lives are deemed worthy of saving by vaccines. #COVID19 #vaccine #pandemic #book #globalhealth

Hepatitis has claimed countless lives. In APAC alone, deaths attributed to hepatitis have reached one million annually, marking a mortality rate three times higher than that of HIV/AIDS, and accounting for 63% of global deaths from the disease. Despite hepatitis C being highly curable, access to diagnosis and treatment remains low. The negative stigma attached to hepatitis has caused many individuals to avoid necessary testing, and perpetuated the silence surrounding this disease. As we observe World Hepatitis Day, let’s strive to break this stigma, and emphasize the urgency of addressing liver diseases. Everyone deserves to get tested. Each of us has a role to play in eliminating viral hepatitis by 2030. Together, let’s start by getting screened for hepatitis today.
