Delivering a transparent, clinically integrated insurance ecosystem with progressive benefit advisors and visionary team members, exclusively designed for small and midsized employers @ ClearPoint Health
Did you know that value-based mechanisms have proven to be able to reduce costs for employers by over $2,000 per employee per year? That is over $100B for employers across the country, simply "left on the table".
Too many benefit advisors cite they "don't know a better way", but some do and they're exploiting the opportunity to take care of their employers while growing the client books.
As anyone in the #employerbenefits knows, new relationships are being forged every day between employers and providers.
These partnerships must be built on #valuebased principles, as we can not afford to continue to sponsor volume-based incentives. Employers must use their feet and move their business to models that reward quality, experience, and avoidable cost reduction.
Check out the article or DM me - always happy to discuss how to operationalize value-based commercial strategies.
Big shout out to Health Evolution for pulling this together and getting so many industry masterminds and trailblazers into one publication - humbled to be included!

If you reflect on your own experiences as a patient or caregiver, what worked well BECAUSE of how the healthcare system is designed vs. DESPITE how the healthcare system is designed?
This was my opening question to the room of health system CEOs that I had the honor to present to at the Cedar CEO Summit in Hilton Head, South Carolina this week. In my talk, titled "Intention & Empathy: A Survivor’s Prescription for Healthcare," I shared five stories from my family's healthcare experiences with the hope of inspiring the audience to challenge the status quo and re-imagine a more patient-centric healthcare system.
Some of my asks included:
1. Communicate with compassion: Words make a difference in the mindset and emotional health of patients and their families.
2. Implement policies with empathy: Patient care can be supported and strengthened with processes and protocols designed from the patient's perspective.
3. Empower families with the tools to be their own advocates: Patients carry the burden of their advocacy and enabling access to life-saving information, like actionable genomics, enables them to fight for the care they need.
4. Streamline financial processes: Improve transparency and efficiency to avoid patients and their families having to make a choice between the risk of taking on financial burden vs. the risk of delaying care.
5. Be the fresh pair of eyes: Avoid misdiagnoses and delayed access to care due to confirmation bias and other unconscious biases.
What else would you add to this list?
Thank you to Seth Cohen and the Cedar team, including Brandon Minow, Liz Austin, Nikki S., and Florian Otto, for inviting me to share my stories and insights at this important event alongside other speakers like Nobel Peace Prize recipient David M. Beasley, Two-time Pulitzer Prize-Winning journalist and author Nick Kristof, and Julie Yoo, Prabhjot Singh, MD PhD, Susan Coller Monarez, Bruce Meyer, David Lubarsky, Dr. Omar Lateef, Eric Larsen, William Kenley, Kevin Holloran, Kulleni Gebreyes, Bill Gassen, Dennis C., and Peter Orszag.

I’ve always thought that the “great consolidation” amongst health systems will lead to large regional Kaiser-esque models, where the payors, clinicians, and facilities are integrated.
What’s really interesting about Jaewon Ryu’s statement below is he says Geisinger is the “first inaugural member.”
That makes me think Risant Health isn’t done, it wasn’t just a singular acquisition, but will be the first of many other “member” organizations that will lead to a huge conglomerate across the nation.
What do you think? Am I reading into this too much? Or will Risant rival HCA + UHC in its ability to gain market share through vertical integration of clinical and health plan assets?
Our founder, Abigail Geisinger, famously said to “make my hospital right; make it the best.” In 1915, that meant building the best hospital and having the best doctors and nurses. Today, making it the best also means having the best technology, digital tools, data and analytics, creating the best consumer experience, and so much more – all coming together to deliver the best care possible to improve the health of our communities.
That is why Geisinger is proud to formally join Risant Health as its inaugural member, which will accelerate our vision to make better health easier for the communities we serve here in Pennsylvania and to be a part of a solution that we believe can transform health care in America. And we are excited to join in that path with Kaiser Permanente, a world-class organization and kindred spirit that has long been the gold standard in positively impacting the health of populations and communities.
But none of this would be possible without the tremendous foundation that has been built here over so many years by so many people, to make Geisinger a leader in advancing the best health of communities. Big shout-out and thanks to our team members, our board of directors, and our communities that support us and entrust us with their health. It is truly an exciting day for us as we enter this bright future ahead.
