We love a good trade show. Ideal opportunities to showcase our non-alcoholic spirits, these events are key to boosting our global profile, building valuable connections and securing new partnerships. And we never miss an opportunity to highlight our Scottish heritage. Here are 10 SoV trade show insights… 🛫 The SoV team will clock up around 125,000 miles this year travelling to trade shows and trade missions around the world. 🗽 In 2024, our travels will take us to 23 cities in 14 countries by the year end. 🌎 Attending trade shows has propelled us into 22 countries worldwide. 👄 Our trade show motto, ‘Liquid on lips,’ reflects our belief that tasting our non-alcoholic spirits firsthand is the best way to win over buyers and partners. 🇺🇸 At the 2023 PLMA in Amsterdam, we met our future US e-commerce distributor, igniting a hugely significant partnership. 🗓 Trade shows are not an easy shift. It’s not unusual for us to cram 10 meetings into one day. We also welcome walk-ups. 🥃 While all our brands look and taste great, our non-alc whisky alternative Glen Dochus and gin substitute Pearsons attract most attention. 🤝 Our partnership with MMI began from a simple conversation at Gulfood 2023 in Dubai. 🚢 Trade show exposure has already contributed to a 214% increase in export sales this year. 👀 The SoV gents like to cut a dash at shows by donning their kilts. Always a talking point! Our trade show adventures continue at Whisky Live Warsaw tomorrow and Saturday. Schedule a meeting in Warsaw here: https://bit.ly/SoVWarsaw. Then, we’re off to Bar Convent Berlin, from 14-16 October. Schedule a meeting in Berlin here: https://bit.ly/SoVBerlin. Or, if you’re in either city and would like to know more about our non-alc spirits and private label capabilities, just swing by and say hello.

This is a trade show for people who don’t like trade shows. And who love coffee. I just attended the COHO Expo: The Coffee & Hospitality Expo, co-located with The European Coffee Symposium in Berlin and spoke with the founder Ludovic Rossignol about their new event: COHO—Coffee and Hospitality. This new event disrupts the traditional trade show model to better meet the needs of modern businesses. Here’s how: Purpose-built for coffee and hospitality: Held in a 5-star hotel InterContinental Berlin, COHO focuses on connecting high-end buyers, bars, and suppliers through curated experiences. Hands-on experiences: Visitors can explore workshops, masterclasses, and barista competitions, discovering new brands while interacting with trusted ones. -> Coffee is serious business: Offices, fashion brands and hotels are placing increasing value on offering high-quality coffee. I also spoke with several exhibitors to understand why events like this matter: They help build lasting relationships (be patient—it takes years!). They keep brands top of mind in the industry. They’re the place where trends are created and shared. This was one of the few events I’ve attended outside the event industry, and I left inspired by how events like this drive real business growth for brands. How important is coffee to the success of your events? Let me know your thoughts! ☕

Horeca, A small yet promising event. I had the opportunity of visiting HORECA - Beirut yesterday, and I was amazed but also a little bit disappointed. The event, which offered visitors a glimpse into the new trends and technologies within the FMCG sector, was well-organized despite its modest size. It caught to my attention the absence of some of the main players in the sector which is a miscalculation that has consequences for all stakeholders. First, the absence of big players deprives attendees of the opportunity to engage with leading brands. These companies often set the standard for innovation and quality in the FMCG market, and their presence at such events is an added value. From the perspective of the organizers, the absence of big players represents a missed opportunity to elevate the importance of the exhibition and attract a larger audience. By securing the participation of major players in the industry, organizers can boost the event's reputation. Accordingly, this will be translated into bigger profitability, ensuring its sustainability and growth in the long run. Adding to the above, these companies play a significant role when involved in events, not only benefits their own businesses but also contributes to the growth of the entire supply chain, from producers to consumers. In conclusion, while the HORECA may have been small in scale, its impact could have been significantly greater with the participation of these players. Their absence represents a missed opportunity for attendees, organizers, and the industry as a whole. Moving forward, it is essential for all involved parties to work together to ensure the participation of key players in future editions of the exhibition. All concerned parties must cooperate in the future to ensure that key players are included in the upcoming editions of the exhibition noting that the above mentioned companies should do an effort, from their side, to contribute to the exhibition’s expansion as foreigners will be interested to participate and visit the exhibition; consequently it will be reflected on the economy of the country even if on a micro scale. #Horeca #Beirut #Lebanon #FMCG #Exhibition #Event #Food #Food_trend #Retail #Food_service #packaging #Food_Technology #Food_Trade #Supply_chain

In our ongoing series on the European Championship 2024 we look at similarities and differences of the countries playing. ⚽ Both Belgium and Romania have a rich history and are members of the European Union. Both countries have a vibrant cultural scene, evident in their architecture, festivals and culinary traditions. Belgium, a small country with a flat landscape and a multicultural capital, contrasts with Romania, which is characterized by its larger size, and beautiful, mountainous landscapes. Belgium 🇧🇪: French fry paradise: Belgium claims to have invented French fries and takes them very seriously. You can buy fries on almost every street corner in “friteries” or “fritkots”, often with a variety of sauces. Belgian fries are so popular that there is even a museum dedicated to them - the Frietmuseum in Bruges. 🍟 Beer bonanza: Belgium is famous for its beer culture and has over 1,500 different types of beer. Some beers are brewed in monasteries by monks using secret recipes that have been handed down over the centuries. Belgian beer lovers claim that there is a beer for every occasion - even for the breakfast table! 🍺 Tri-Cultural tapestry: Belgium is uniquely divided into three cultural regions, each with its own distinct culture, traditions, and even language. This diversity contributes to Belgium's rich cultural and culinary tapestry. 🌍🌎🌏 Romania 🇷🇴: Sarmale delights: Romanians love their traditional dish of sarmale, stuffed cabbage rolls, so much that it is served on almost every public holiday. They hold a significant place in Romanian culinary traditions and are enjoyed by people of all ages throughout the country. 🤤🎊 Salt Palace: Romania is home to the impressive Salina Turda, a huge salt mine that has been converted into an underground leisure and health center. Visitors can slide down giant slides, ride an underground Ferris wheel or go boating in a salt lake. 🧂🚣♀️ Lucky charms: Martisor is an ancient tradition observed on March 1st and involves exchanging small tokens, typically red and white strings with decorative charms or small trinkets attached. These Martisor tokens are believed to bring good luck, health, and prosperity for the coming year. A joyful and colorful tradition. 🍀 How do you think each country will represent themselves through their team? 🌎⚽ #globalmobility #hrconsulting #championship #belgium #romania #culturehackers #culture

Recap from Hotelex Shanghai 2024 | Swipe and Read! Hotelex Shanghai is one of the biggest #coffee events in #China. At the show, specifically, we hosted many cuppings with our partners — seasoned and new — and welcomed many visitors to our booth, where we presented them with 23 differently brewed coffees from #Yemen and #Colombia. Their honesty and exuberance helped us identify the coffees that’ll do well in this market; and has left us determined to advise our partners better to meet these growing, ever-changing, consumer needs. Present at the event were Sky Xu, Head of Operations - China, and Jun Pyo Lee, Business Development Manager - Asia. Their reflections below 👇🏻 “China has an innovative playing field in the coffee market, but the economic downturns in the preceding year saw a mild dip in consumption. Yet this market has pivoted and persisted. Many partners have diversified their offerings, sales mechanisms and activations, and new cafe expansions are happening with the help of externally raised capital. We have also been witnessing an influx of younger workforce that focuses on the specifics of coffee, one that participates in competitions leveraging the power of social media to retain attention. A large part of this response can be attributed to the sheer passion that China feels towards coffee.” At Qima, we have always seen tremendous potential in China’s coffee market. And the curve of the joyride (and lessons!) will only go up from here.
