You might have heard news about Forward's CarePods recently, but do you know about the engineering required to make them real? Let's take a look under the hood at some of the technology that powers them. From a clinical platform providing programmatic access to clinical building blocks, to a CarePod devices platform integrating sensors and other devices, to an operating system mediating access to the platform, to the apps themselves, technology forms the foundation of Forward’s healthcare revolution. Here are just a few of the problem domains engineers at Forward tackle: • 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬: Develop and deploy a wide array of devices and sensors that provide novel, self-service access to biometric insights. • 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Ensure the reliability and availability of CarePods, 24/7. • 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦: Allow app developers to quickly and reliably deliver health apps built using JavaScript, React, and Forward’s SDK — and running on a Health App OS that spans our mobile app, CarePods, and the cloud. • 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦: Work with clinicians and operators to turn the complexities of prescription fulfillment, diagnostic testing, workflow management, and workforce orchestration into simple APIs for app developers to use. • 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐬: Build the first set of health apps, changing healthcare from a service into a product that can be used anytime, anywhere. We need talented, problem-focused engineers who want to work on something that matters. Sound like you? When dreams become reality... Ever since we started Awell, we've been bullish on the API-first, composable architecture for healthcare I'm also convinced that, in 5 years, every care org (small, big, and huge) will have engineers (not IT) elbow-deep in APIs and open-source tech every single day. That’s why I’m pumped to share that Awell now plays nice with Medplum! If you haven’t heard of Medplum yet, it’s the open-source EHR making waves with companies like Tia, Ro, Summer Health, and Thirty Madison. It’s flexible, powerful, and best of all, open! Now, with Awell, engineers can continue building their digital empires with Medplum, while everyone else (clinical, ops, product teams) can automate care flows effortlessly with our low-code builder. "Hello LinkedIn family, Recently, I've been spending time visiting various government hospitals, and I've noticed some distressing things. Despite the presence of 'Doctor Present' boards in many large hospitals, in 50 to 60% of cases, doctors are found absent from their designated areas. Instead, they operate from private chambers, charging extra fees and leaving patients from nearby villages stranded. As a software engineer, problem-solving is our greatest strength and skill. With this in mind, I'm working on leveraging technology to address these issues. Stay tuned for updates on my initiatives. #Healthcare #Technology #SocialImpact"#coding #webdevelopment

“Hello World!” The phrase “Hello World!” is more than just a line of code—it’s the first interaction I had with computer programming. It’s a simple yet profound demonstration of how a few lines of code can make technology come to life and communicate back to us. As a ‘former engineer’, I’ve always been fascinated by how technology can engage with people. Software has evolved to become a significant part of healthcare, from EMR/EHR systems that hold vast amounts of networked patient data to the rise of telehealth during the COVID pandemic. But as we face a growing shortage of providers, it’s evident that software alone isn’t solving one critical problem—scalability. Providers are still overwhelmed with mining through patient data, creating treatment plans, and managing documentation. Telehealth helps, but it still requires the provider to interact one-on-one with each patient. That’s where Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) comes in. RTM is intended to extend the reach of healthcare providers, allowing them to track patient adherence and engagement with therapy more regularly, not just during clinic visits. It offers automated data collection and interactions, helping providers focus on what really requires their attention. At Adhere+ we’re taking RTM to the next level. Adhere+ RTM is designed to be more than just remote monitoring—it’s an analytics-driven platform that engages patients daily through meaningful, clinically relevant touchpoints. Our protocols are designed by providers to help providers manage their patient data and interactions efficiently, offering insights that help drive better adherence and care plan engagement. This all happens in a way that minimizes the burden on clinic staff. I’m excited to work alongside a great team to rip down the walls of healthcare. With our platform, rooted in NIH-funded research, we’re helping providers stay connected with patients, improving patient engagement, and making sure it’s scalable. Let’s break down the barriers in healthcare and build a more connected, patient-centered future. Time to get to work. #RTM #AdherePlus #HealthcareInnovation #PatientEngagement #ChronicCare

I’m excited to share that our dedicated team, HealthGurus, has successfully developed HealthTechInc, a platform designed to transform clinic administration and patient management. Our collaborative effort ensured that every aspect of the project, from design to functionality, was meticulously handled. Although some features are still in development, we’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made. Chantell Jembere and Lerato Malatji my teammembers, We were given a chance to showcase our skills at the main event for the GirlCode Group hackathon which was held at iKhokha . Working hand in hand with both Chenosis , and BETSoftware . HealthTechInc is a modern web platform developed to support local clinics in transitioning from traditional paper-based patient file management to a more efficient digital system. The website is designed to modernize clinic administration by leveraging a sophisticated system that has been successfully implemented in hospitals. This system utilizes patient IDs to verify if a patient’s record already exists in the database. Currently, the feature that displays this information is still under development, meaning administrators are unable to view detailed patient records during their searches at this time. In addition to managing patient records, HealthTechInc facilitates the scheduling of patient appointments. Admins can book appointments directly through the platform. A key feature of the website is its planned integration with the Ayoba Business Chat API, which is intended to automate the sending of appointment details via text messages. However, this integration is still in progress, and as such, appointment confirmation messages are not yet being sent. This delay is due to the ongoing development of the appointment database, which will eventually enable seamless communication between the clinic and patients. HealthTechInc also includes a valuable document scanning feature to help digitize physical patient records. Admins have the option to use a camera integrated into the patient files section to scan and upload existing hardcopy documents. If a patient is not found during the ID search, admins can either scan and upload the patient's physical documents or manually register the patient. The platform uses a technology stack that includes HTML for the front-end interface, CSS for styling, and JavaScript for backend functionalities. Firebase is utilized for secure data storage, and the reCAPTCHA API is implemented to enhance security and protect against automated abuse. Through these technological advancements, HealthTechInc aims to modernize clinic operations, improving efficiency and accuracy in patient file management. #HealthTechInc #TeamWork #Innovation #TechForGood
