GOT BEST? It depends on how you ask and when you ask them. Rankings will always be relevant to #highereducation in some fashion. That being said, each institutions needs to find some way to differentiate themselves from whatever pack they are in. https://lnkd.in/evjkcjg6

With college football games in full swing, Stefano Puntoni's insights on the commercial opportunities tied to college brands are timely. According to the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the collegiate licensed merchandise retail market is ~$4.6 billion. College sports now offer excellent marketing sponsorship chances for companies of all sizes, with the advent of NIL opening doors for smaller advertising budgets to reach NCAA fan bases. Moreover, college markets cater to more targeted regional and local audiences, making them attractive for businesses aligned with specific geographical areas. Various marketplaces, like OpenSponsorship, MOGL, and Opendorse, facilitate connections among sponsors, athletes, and universities. What's the most innovative, fun, or effective NIL deal you've seen? Share in the comments. An early favorite of mine, sticking with The University of Texas at Austin highlighted in Stefano's post, was Bijan Robinson's NIL deal to launch a new Dijon mustard, Bijan Mustardson. Hook 'em Horns! 🤘 #CollegeSports #NIL #Marketing #BrandPartnerships
The strongest American brands are not consumer products, banks, or cars. It’s universities (ok, maybe also tech brands…). I’m not sure people here fully appreciate just how anomalous the prominence in society of university brands is compared to global standards. I’m in Austin for a talk—great institution and wonderful to meet my former student Gizem Yalcin Williams and lots of other brilliant people—and I had the chance to visit the UT Austin store. It’s huge and the brand is VERY loud on every single item, including ladies’ boots. It’s remarkable how strong people feel about the place they went to study. I’m not sure what exactly drives this passion. There are probably many explanations (the focus on sports, the fact that college for American kids is a massive rite of passage, the competition for ranking and prestige, etc.) but it never stops to amaze me. #brands The University of Texas at Austin

The article sheds light on a concerning trend where U.S. colleges resort to pawning assets like art collections and real estate to navigate financial challenges. This reflects a larger issue of rising costs, declining enrollments, and shrinking revenues, pushing institutions to take drastic measures. While these tactics offer short-term relief, they underscore the urgent need for sustainable solutions to ensure long-term viability. To address these challenges, colleges must pivot towards innovative strategies: 1) Reimagining Revenue Streams: Diversifying income sources beyond traditional avenues through online programs and partnerships for lifelong learning opportunities. 2) Leveraging Technology for Efficiency: Integrating AI and automation to enhance operational efficiency, optimize processes, and boost student engagement. 3) Building Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with tech firms, community groups, and other educational entities to lower costs, diversify revenue, and offer unique programs to attract diverse student populations. 4) Enhancing Student Experience: Investing in digital tools that support mental health, career services, and extracurricular activities to create a holistic educational journey that keeps students satisfied and engaged. While the current landscape may appear challenging, colleges can pave the way for a sustainable future by rethinking education delivery, harnessing technology, and fostering strategic collaborations. Innovation is paramount, and those embracing change will emerge stronger in the evolving educational landscape. 🚀 #education #colleges #students #edtech #parents Rob Sacks Lily Meier Amanda Albright

What do you #think? "Universities like #Yale and #Princeton operate under the assumption that only a small group of remarkable people can push #humanity forward. Thus, Yale’s goal is to become a training camp for the world’s #elite, so that they can go out and make life better for the rest of us. As a Yale Daily News editorial puts it: “Yale serves as a site of elite class reproduction, funneling well-heeled youth into positions of power….” But this view of the world is #misguided because, more often than not, #change has been made by #groups instead of #individuals. Yale, then, might be better served sharing knowledge and resources with as many people as possible, so we all can accomplish great things together. Nevertheless, Yale continues to commit this elitist view of change-making, closing the doors of the university to anyone who isn’t deemed capable of becoming a world leader."

The mutual strengths and needs of #manufacturers and liberal arts colleges can make them good partners in small-town America, says Byron Rich, assistant provost of #academic innovation at Allegheny College. "The areas in which liberal arts colleges and industry can most meaningfully collaborate are industry-specific and industry-led #training programs, research and #innovation toward employment pathways, shared technology use, emerging technology exploration and investment and start-up incubation." https://lnkd.in/gbVMFgem #manufacturing #liberalarts
