A recent study released from the Energy Markets & Policy group with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory reveals that community solar is making strides in expanding solar access! Key findings include: • Community solar adopters earn 23% less annual income than rooftop solar adopters. • They are 4.4 times more likely to rent and 6.1 times more likely to live in multifamily buildings. • Policy support plays a significant role, helping low-income households and renters join the solar movement. Community solar is proving to be a game-changer, making renewable energy accessible for more households. Let’s advocate for policies that continue to support this growth! #CommunitySolar #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEquity https://loom.ly/-kyJ5yk

Berkeley Lab has confirmed something the Standard Solar team has known for years: community solar (one of our all-time favorite renewables models) is a prime way of increasing equity in America’s energy sector. ☺️ Their recent study demonstrates that community solar: ✨Expand solar access without additional policy interventions layered on top. ✨Adopters earn much less income and are more likely to rent and live in multifamily buildings. ✨Their findings complement earlier findings that LMI subscribers grew from 2% to 10% in one year, with costs decreasing 30%. The Coalition for Community Solar Access released a statement about these findings. Community Solar: How to Democratize Clean Energy → by Lorne Michael Cousins → Learn how community solar projects can provide access and benefits of solar energy to everyone. Imagine a world where everyone can access and benefit from clean, renewable energy, regardless of where they live, how much they earn, or what kind of property they own. This is the vision of community solar, a model of solar energy that allows multiple customers to share the output of a single solar project. Community solar projects are typically located on public or shared land, such as schools, churches, or community centers, and are owned and operated by a third-party entity, such as a utility, a developer, or a nonprofit organization. What is community solar? This is a pathway to equitable access to solar power, also known as shared solar or solar gardens. Community solar enables customers (or subscribers) to buy or rent part of an off-site solar system and receive credit on their energy bill for the electricity it produces. #communitysolar #solarpower #climatebasics

With multiple different initiatives around the world, there are numerous cities and municipalities that are turning to solar energy for more and more of their power. The drive to 'Go Green' is impacting us all, so it's great to see these locations pushing forward and using renewable power sources. The City of London, UK for example is now using a 91,000 panel site in Dorset to provide over half the energy consumed by assets such as the Tower Bridge and the Barbican Centre. In the USA, Honolulu, HI, Los Angeles and San Diego, CA and Las Vegas, NV are all leading the way with solar panel usage. And in Australia, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Blacktown, Central Victoria, Moreland, Perth and Townsville are all 'pilot cities' using Solar to gain data on any hurdles around solar power use and how we can be more efficient with renewable power usage. #greentech #cleantech #solarpower #solarenergy #commercialsolar #verticalsolar #solarpowerpole

As states mull over community solar bills, a battle brews between utilities and advocates. Despite bipartisan support, utilities spread misinformation to preserve profits, which hinder progress. Community solar offers accessible and clean energy for all, which fosters competition and bill savings. Yet, utilities resist, fearing a supposed cost-shift that would hurt their shareholder profits. Research shows smaller solar projects benefit all ratepayers by leveraging existing infrastructure efficiently. Some utility companies recognize these benefits, hinting at a potential shift. It's time to prioritize innovation and decentralization. By embracing community solar, we can empower consumers and democratize the energy grid. Let's eliminate misinformation and embrace a cleaner, equitable energy future. 🌱🔆 #CommunitySolar #CleanEnergy
