🌍💙 Happy International Men’s Day! 💙🌍 Today, I want to celebrate the incredible contributions, achievements, and positive impact of the men in our lives—whether as fathers, brothers, friends, mentors, or colleagues. This year’s theme, “Positive Male Role Models,” is a powerful reminder to appreciate those who challenge stereotypes, inspire others, and lead with kindness and integrity. 💡 Why does this matter? International Men’s Day is more than just a celebration—it’s a moment to reflect on: Mental Health Awareness: Encouraging open conversations and breaking the stigma around men seeking support. Diversity and Inclusion: Supporting men in all their roles, whether at work, at home, or in their communities. Role Modeling for the Future: Recognizing the value of healthy, positive examples for future generations. To the men who support, inspire, and uplift those around them: Thank you. 💪 Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the importance of positive role models while continuing to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. How are you marking International Men’s Day? I’d love to hear your thoughts! ⬇️ #InternationalMensDay #DiversityAndInclusion #PositiveRoleModels #MentalHealthMatters

At SELDOC, we recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. South Asian Heritage Month, observed from July 18 to August 17, is a time to celebrate and honour the rich cultural contributions of South Asian communities. This year marks the 6th anniversary of the event since its founding in 2018, and the theme, "Free to be me," encourages us to embrace differences in heritage and culture, fostering inclusivity in our workplaces and communities. This month provides an opportunity to reflect on the diverse backgrounds, traditions, and experiences that enrich our professional environment. Understanding and appreciating these cultural nuances can foster a more inclusive and empathetic workplace, where everyone feels valued and respected. Highlighting South Asian Heritage Month allows us to acknowledge the unique perspectives that our colleagues from South Asian backgrounds bring to the table. It encourages open dialogue, promotes cultural awareness, and helps build stronger, more cohesive teams. At SELDOC, we believe that recognising and celebrating such diversity not only enhances our workplace culture but also drives innovation and success. Embracing these conversations and learning from one another is a step towards a more inclusive and equitable work environment for all. Upcoming Events: 🍵 Live Tea Break Experience Event 12 September: Theme: “Microaggressions vs Banter” 📅 Don't miss out on this unique event, highly recommended by 94% of attendees! https://lnkd.in/eTMkATK4 🎙️ Race and Neurodiversity Event 8 October: 📅 Join the discussion on intersectionality, supporting ethnically diverse and neurodiverse colleagues. https://lnkd.in/ef-HnEHp Both events are free for Race Equality Matters members and their employees. 🌟 Celebrating International Men’s Day 2024 🌟 Today, we pause to honor the incredible contributions men make in our workplaces, communities, and families. International Men’s Day is not just a celebration—it’s a call to reflect on the values of positive masculinity, kindness, respect, and inclusivity. This year’s theme, “Positive Male Role Models”, reminds us of the importance of fostering an environment where men feel supported to be their authentic selves, embrace their vulnerabilities, and strive for balance in every aspect of life. We use the day to highlight some of the key social issues that men and boys around the world face. In Australia, these "men's issues" include the fact that: 🛑 3 out of 4 suicides are men 🛑 2 out of 3 violent deaths are men 🛑 Men die 6 years younger than women on average 🛑 Boys underperform girls at every stage of education 🛑 Dads who want to be more involved in their children's lives face a range of barriers

Last week was Diversity, Inclusion and Human Rights Week - and although the official week is over, we want to keep the conversation going. 🙌 One of the ways we can all contribute to a better future in the events space is by looking out for one another and creating an environment that is inspiring, non-hostile and inclusive. If you're still unsure about where to begin with this, here are some tips: 🤝 Invite new members of the team to join you for lunch in crew catering, to build better team relationships. ✨ Create an event that celebrates our differences, by inviting event speakers, panelists, and performers who represent a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. 📖 Ensure induction instructions or training materials are adaptable and accessible for volunteers who may not have English as their first language. 🗣️ Have clear policies in place to address any instances of discrimination, harassment, or other inappropriate behaviour within the team and the wider event. Ensure this includes ways your team or delegates can report such behaviour on site. 👩🦽 Consider accessibility needs for all attendees, including providing options for interpretation services, captioning for presentations, and ensuring physical accessibility around the venue. ✍️ Provide opportunities for those working and attendees to give feedback on the event, including their experiences related to diversity and inclusion, and use this feedback to improve future events! #accessibility #diversityandinclusion #puttingpeoplefirst

📅Today is International Men’s Day 🙌🏾 Working in the field, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals through some of their toughest moments—and that includes men. ♂️🚹 It’s taught me a lot about the misconceptions we carry about men. There’s often this expectation that men should always “man up,” keep emotions locked down, and just get on with it. But in reality, men—just like everyone else—can feel overwhelmed, struggle to ask for help, and carry silent battles. 🤐💔 I’ve seen firsthand how damaging these stereotypes can be. I’ve also seen how transformative it is when we create spaces where men feel safe to be vulnerable, ask for support, and thrive. 🌱💡 Men with disabilities face these challenges on another level. They deal with society’s assumptions about masculinity and the stigma that comes with their disability. It’s a double layer of misunderstanding that we need to break through. 🛠️ So today, I want to celebrate men for their resilience and their complexity. 💙 Being strong doesn’t mean never struggling. It means navigating those struggles with honesty and courage—and I’ve seen plenty of that in the men I support and work alongside every day. Here’s to continuing to challenge the misconceptions and making space for all men to live as their full selves. 🌟 Happy International Men’s Day! 🕺🎉

Harmony Day - March 21 What I love about Australia is its diversity! It’s a unique melting pot of backgrounds, cultures, languages and traditions, making it one an incredibly diverse country. To celebrate this uniqueness and the beautiful blend of backgrounds that characterise our society, we come together for a special celebration – Harmony Week. Running from March 15 to 21, this celebration culminates in Harmony Day on March 21. This is a great time to acknowledge that many of us, or our ancestors, have come from different parts of the world, enriching this nation. Harmony Week champions inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. It emphasises our commitment to shared values like democracy, fairness, and freedom. Here are some ideas that can help you celebrate Harmony Day: 🔸 Wear orange: Sport something orange to show your support for diversity and inclusion. Orange represents mutual respect and understanding. 🔸 Host a cultural potluck: Invite friends, family, or colleagues to bring a dish from their cultural background. It’s a delicious way to learn about each other’s heritage. 🔸 Share stories: Use social media or a community gathering to share stories of cultural significance. It’s a great way to celebrate diversity and learn from each other. 🔸 Promote inclusion at work: Encourage your workplace to celebrate Harmony Week by hosting diversity training sessions, showcasing world music, or decorating the office with flags from around the world. 🔸 Educate yourself and others: Take time to learn about another culture, or share your own culture with others. Education is a powerful tool for fostering understanding and respect. 🔸 Support multicultural organizations: Donate to or volunteer with organizations that support multicultural communities. Your help can make a big difference in promoting inclusiveness and belonging. Celebrating ‘harmony’ allows us to actively participate in creating a more inclusive and respectful community. I’d love to hear how your workplace is acknowledging Harmony Week / Harmony Day. Are there any special events or initiatives you’re participating in? Let’s share our experiences and continue to build an inclusive Australia together. #HarmonyDay #HarmonyWeek #CulturalDiversity #Inclusiveness #CelebrateDiversity
