As an accredited Strengths Practitioner with the Center for Applied Positive Psychology UK, I’m proud to bring strengths-based coaching to children as young as 11 years old. Although the Strengths Profile is typically used with adults, I’ve adapted its principles to suit young minds – and the results have been remarkable in today’s world where children are more aware than ever! By focusing on what energizes and brings happiness to children, we help them build a positive sense of self and discover their unique strengths. Teaching them early provides lasting benefits, boosting their confidence, resilience, and ability to navigate challenges. Through engaging, age-appropriate techniques, I’m seeing firsthand how children thrive when they learn to focus on their strengths and getting to know their definition. If you’re a parent or CEO invested in the next generation’s success, let’s #connect. Together, we can build a future where children lead with their strengths and develop into confident, capable individuals. #StrengthsBasedCoaching #PositivePsychology #YouthDevelopment #EmpowerKids Strengths Profile #StrengthsProfile

Some great insights here about neurodiversity
Chartered and Registered Psychologist, Executive Coach & Speaker. Follow insights on leadership and management and the psychology of work. Owner of HALO Psychology.
It's Neurodiversity Celebration Week (18-22 March). Ignoring the fact that we should be celebrating neurodiversity every week, I wanted to share a book I've recently read. It's called Neurodiversity Coaching - by Nancy Doyle and Almuth McDowall If you want to be a more inclusive coach, people manager, or HR practitioner, then I cannot recommend this book enough. It is well researched and filled with evidence-based tools, techniques and approaches. The chapter on Clean Language, in particular, made me reflect on how unclear my language potentially is, particularly for autistic clients. Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book: "We do not believe that difference needs 'fixing'. Difference should be celebrated and supported, in a way that allows the development of independence and potential." (p.4) "It is your professional responsibility to educate yourself in the language of inclusion because this signposts how you respect." (p.33) "Coaching helps us travel towards our best selves, our goals and ambitions. It brings clarity and efficiency; it doesn’t change who we are." (p.60) "ADHDers found that being accepted as a unique person and the personal relationship with their coach made all the difference." (p.67) "Doing strength- and self-focused work in coaching needs to be paired with a dose of realism about the level of agency coachees have in their jobs and context in order to keep expectations realistic." (p.181) "The difference between general burnout and autistic burnout is that the latter is linked to experiences in various life domains, not just at work; for example, masking autistic traits, the expectations from others, sensory overwhelm and the impact of life changes and transitions, as well as barriers to getting support." (p.221) And in case you didn't know, Nancy and Almuth head up The Centre for Neurodiversity at Work, at Birkbeck, University of London. I've shared a link to the Centre in the comments section. Its worth checking out, particularly the resources section. #neurodiversity #neurodivergent #psychology #coaching #coachingpsychology #book #bookrecommendation

Where will you be in one year’s time in your life, work and business? Did you know that we often overestimate what we can do in a few months and underestimate what we can do in one year? Real change takes time. You can have an insight or change your mind instantly but creating behaviours and habits to support it will take time. It’s the same in your personal life as in your business life. For example you can suddenly understand how your people pleasing and not having clear boundaries results in you feeling overwhelmed, fed up and resentful. But it will take you time to establish new ways of relating to others, saying clear ‘no’ not just with your words but your whole body language, and making different choices in an empowered way. Initially it will feel awkward and uncomfortable. But with practice over time it will become your embodied way of being. I know because I’ve been there myself. And I’ve worked with many women through this process. This is why our training certification 160-hr Trauma-informed Somatic Teacher and Coach for Women is 9-months long to give you enough time to learn, grow, heal and integrate. 👉Our Autumn Cohort starts this Friday, 4th October. Check out the link below and let’s talk. https://lnkd.in/eqZuaRtb

I have been asked why #PPK2K - what does it mean? PP: positive psychologists/people K2K: Being knee-to-knee was inspired by Itai Ivtzan (School of Positive Transformation) #breathwork and is about human connection and physical contact - not Zoom or #MSTeams #meetings! #RTW #Adventure I know I am currently speaking with a lot of white, privileged people (as does a lot of #academic #research). This will change as we motorbike across continents and around the world to meet a myriad of people from all walks of life and cultures. The challenge (aside from the fact I am a fearful novice on a #motorbike!) is to #connect with them, #communicate and hear their #stories and #perspectives. Craig Foreman's challenge is to keep us on the road! PPK2K are short, informal knee-to-knee chats with positive psychologists and positive people gathered on a round-the-world adventure on a motorcycle. The plan is to collect different views and perspectives on: 1) what it means to live a good life/or what positive psychology means to each individual, 2) what intentional positive interventions (or PPI's) have the greatest impact in our lives 3) which intentional positive interventions (or PPI's) can make the biggest difference in our communities, 4) and we end with a one-line message of hope for the world! The RTW tour plans are as follows: 1. Western Europe - Sep/Oct 2024 2. North Africa and Southern Europe - Nov/Dec 2024 3. Middle East/Asia - Jan/Feb 2025 4. SE Asia - Mar/Apr 2025 5. North & Eastern Oz - May/Jun to arrive in Brisbane 1st July 2025 for the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) conference

When I was in high school I had a real problem with butting in to conversations and not letting people finish their point. In the aftermath I always wished I’d said nothing at all, but in the moment, it’s like I had no control over what was going on! This led to: 👉🏼 Being told I was disrespectful 👉🏼 Being told I needed to respect authority more 👉🏼 Being kicked out of class 👉🏼 People avoiding conversations with me 👉🏼 Being told to wait my turn 👉🏼 Me losing my voice 👉🏼 Choosing to disengage instead 👉🏼 So no one even noticed I was there 👉🏼 Feeling like no one cared about my opinion anyway 👉🏼 Me never wanting to leave my room or go to school This would have been so much more manageable if the adults around me understood: 👉🏼 I have ADHD 👉🏼 This means I battle with executive functioning 👉🏼 One of these skills is restraint, appropriate regulation and managing impulsivity 👉🏼 In reality, in moments of heightened convo or excitement I could not control myself or wait my turn 👉🏼 Most of the time, I was interrupting in order to let someone know that I related to them or had a similar experience 👉🏼 For me, that was a way to connect 👉🏼 But this is not what other people may have viewed it as 👉🏼 I lacked the self awareness to understand this 👉🏼 I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful 👉🏼 I didn’t think I was a know-it-all What they could have done instead of criticise: 👉🏼 Understand that it was not always controllable 👉🏼 Not discipline me for a skills gap I wasn’t in control of 👉🏼 Pull me aside after the convo occurred 👉🏼 Acknowledge that I seemed really excited about the topic 👉🏼 Help me recognise that respecting other people’s views means giving them the platform until they are finished 👉🏼 Thinking of ways that I could remind myself not to interrupt in the moment 👉🏼 If I did, suggest transparency, and letting the other person know that I apologise for interrupting and that it was something that I was working on 👉🏼 Also letting the other person know that I tend to interrupt when I am passionate about a topic, so their conversation was obviously interesting to me 👉🏼 Let me know that it was okay if slipped up These days as a coach, it is MY JOB to listen to others, so this skill has obviously really improved over time! Some of reasons why: 👉🏼 I’m an adult so this skill has improved overtime 👉🏼 I have the self awareness to know when it’s appropriate to chip in 👉🏼 Doodling or fidgeting means I’m less impulsive 👉🏼 Regulating my nervous system has made me way less verbally explosive 👉🏼 This looks like exercise, walking and journaling 👉🏼 My meds have seemed to have tempered me 👉🏼 I have better focus when engaging with individuals 👉🏼 I take transitions throughout the day 👉🏼 The people who love me get me know and let me ramble if I want Does this resonate?

[🌟 Advancing My Skills in Psychological Assessment 🌟] I am excited to share that on July 20, 2024, I participated in a professional online training session hosted by Psikologi Koe, led by the esteemed industrial and organizational psychologist Lorenzy Oshel, M.Psi., Psikolog. During this training, I had the opportunity to delve into two significant psychological assessment tools: the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS) for personality assessment and the Intelligence Structure Test (IST) for intelligence measurement. 🧠 The comprehensive training covered theoretical foundations 📚, administration procedures 📝, and scoring methods 🧮 for both tests. Additionally, the hands-on practical assignments provided me with a deeper understanding of the material. This experience has significantly enhanced my skills and knowledge in psychological assessments. 🎓 Looking forward to applying these new insights in my professional journey! 🚀 #Psychology #ProfessionalTraining #PsychologicalAssessment #ContinuousLearning

I studied Positive Psychology and Coaching in London ❌ and why am I feeling like a winning Coach already? ✔︎ it's a top fresh niche in the Psychology field so there's still a lot to discover for us as practitioners. ✔︎ I am coaching my clients “how to approach problem a with positive but not toxic attitude” so, half of their problems are already solved ✔︎ I have learnt super useful Positive Psychology interventions and now I can pass them into my client's hands, so they don't need to buy another self-help book. ✔︎ People who studied Positive Psychology with me weren't looking for solutions for themselves, because they already had what it takes compared to graduates who study plain psychology where (what I heard of from the others) many people try to gain knowledge only for themselves to solve their internal problems. #positivepsychology #positivepsychologycoaching #communication #selflove #london #unitedkingdom #selfesteem
