MLSS in a nutshell is your academic and behavioral educational experiences provided in three distinct layers supporting the whole child. It is where we educators are all hands-on-deck! Layer 1: For ALL of our students bringing into play CORE HQIM with differentiation (content, process, products, or the learning environment) and just-in-time supports. This layer is not to be skipped. It is the right of the student to receive a grade appropriate education. Layer 2: For some students needing intervention to support CORE in small groups. Not computer based, but teacher led. Monitored. Layer 3: Small groups for a few students in educational crisis. Finding gaps and assisting in closing them by drilling down to the actual needs of the student. Outside of CORE using supplemental HQIM. Pulling in all the resources and support to enhance mental velcro (Hirsch). Also monitored. Noteworthy: Students move in and out of layers as needed. ~df

Review the MSIS list and schedule a meeting for the first 20 days of school 3. Review data on students who ended the year in Tier II and Tier III and those who scored below the benchmark on state testing and literacy screener 4. Recommendations for student placement in Tier II or Tier III should be made 5. Obtain a master schedule to assist in developing an intervention schedule 6. Document student intervention time, and notify parents that their student is being placed in Tier II or Tier III interventions #teachingtiptuesday #baileyeducation #leadwithbailey
