PsyMed Health prides itself on not just being a "checkbox/right-off" for your patients. Our psychologists, counselors, and dietitians take great pride in being your patient's advocates. We want them to be as successful as they can be after surgery, therefore, if we notice any red flags, we will notify the surgeon's office of any holds and work with the patient to get them to where they need to be for their long-term success before signing off. Preparing Your Family for Your Procedure Getting ready for surgery can be overwhelming, but with the right preparation, your family can support you every step of the way. Here are some key tips to ensure a smooth recovery: Educate Your Loved Ones: Make sure they understand how to manage drains and the types of medications you'll need. Emotional Support: Let them know you might be emotionally sensitive and in need of a tender touch. Household Help: Arrange for extra help at home—whether that's hiring someone or having more family around to assist. By preparing in advance, you can focus on healing while your family takes care of the rest. Patience is the toughest skill to master. How I discovered the limits of patience in 7 cases: 1.Can't relieve pain; painkillers damage kidneys. 2.Patient needs surgery but lacks funds and will come back later. 3.Can't cure disease; death is certain. 4.Patient needs surgery but doesn't believe it. 5.Relatives have exhausted money; keeping patient alive is starving them. 6.Exhausted, OPD closed, one more patient arrives late. 7.When staying patient while being a patient. Staying calm tests our strength. How do you practice patience in tough times? #Healthcare #Patience #MedicalJourney #DoctorLife #PatientCare #StayStrong #MedicalStories

As a surgeon, I highly recommend taking an active role in your health journey. Don't hesitate to ask questions and clarify any doubts you may have about your condition or treatment options. Seeking a second medical opinion can also help you make a more informed decision. It's important to understand the risks and benefits of any procedure, as well as what to expect during recovery. Improving your overall health before surgery through diet, exercise, and stress management helps lead to better outcomes. After surgery, diligently follow post-op instructions and attend all follow-up appointments. Staying engaged with your healthcare team and joining a support group provides the knowledge, resources and community needed to optimize your health. Your involvement is key to achieving the best possible results. #healthjourney #secondopinion #prepsurgery #postopsupport
