As Earth Green Day 🌍 prompts reflection on our environmental commitments, I’m reminded of the strides we’ve made TIGRIS - Transformative Sustainability back when I was still with them. 🌱 Our journey began nearly 5 years ago, with the 2024 theme “Planet vs. Plastics” 🌎🆚🥤 echoing the sentiments of our first project. At Tigris, we recognized the hospitality industry’s eagerness for sustainable practices 🏨♻️, yet also its hesitation at the cost 💰. Traditional models requiring substantial initial investments were a barrier to many. Our solution? A groundbreaking financing model that transforms sustainability into an accessible service 🚀. We empowered our partner engineering firms to install water purification systems 💧 at no initial cost to hotels like Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts under Marriott International Instead of prohibitive upfront costs, our model allows for payment per use, with each glass bottle provided at a rate competitive with traditional plastic alternatives 🍼➡️🥤. As we mark Earth Green Day, let’s celebrate the power of innovative thinking in driving sustainable change 🎉🌿. If the future presents an opportunity, I am enthusiastic about diving back into the industry that resonates so deeply with my values. #Sustainability #Innovation #EarthGreenDay #Hospitality #NoPlastic #EcoFriendly

Attending the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2024 was truly invaluable. Over the past two days, I engaged in insightful discussions led by distinguished national and global leaders across various sectors, from energy and air pollution to decarbonisation, carbon capture and storage, and the future of sustainable transportation. The event underscored the vast opportunities for growth within the Green Economy and the numerous gaps that need addressing. Despite this, it's inspiring to see the circular solutions available today that were once deemed impossible. Such conversations serve as a reminder to continuously learn and innovate within my own professional domain. #Sustainability #GreenEconomy #Innovation #Learning

My latest column for PortCalls centers on my own takeaways from the panel on sustainable procurement I moderated during last month's LogiSYM Asia Pacific event. If you were there, you'd probably recall me saying something about how there's no one-size-fits-all approach because different industries have different demands, and how my panel emphasized the need to collaborate both within and across organizations. Later that day I had the chance to chat with Valerie about another aspect of an organization's wider responsibility, this time to the communities they serve and to society as a whole. Right now, we're discussing our environmental impact because it's clear how it'll affect our business -- and eventually, I feel, the same can be said of our societal impact. Perhaps we can get a head start on that by pushing collaboration even further, going beyond CSR and ERG and making truly meaningful change.

⚠️ A Guardian article back in 2023 raised a critical issue: phantom credits - carbon offsets that fail to deliver real impact. It revealed that over 90% of rainforest carbon offsets by the biggest certifier are worthless. 🌳 Enter CarbonX, an end-to-end carbon project developer on track to managing 60,000 hectares of forest concessions projects in Sulawesi and Kalimantan. 🎯 Their mission? To develop high-impact carbon projects with integrity. Amidst their work to fight Indonesia's deforestation, one of key challenge Dessi Yuliana is observing in the carbon market is the absence of greenium - the premium that investors or customers are willing to pay for sustainable projects or products. What can drive a broader shift in market sentiment to reduce these risks and unlock more capital for sustainable projects?
