Our children are worth infinitely more than paper money, yet our laws treat them as less. When someone embezzles money, they face long jail sentences. But when a child's life is stolen through trafficking, the consequences are often far less severe. It's time to value our children as the priceless beings they are and demand justice that truly reflects the gravity of this crime. The punishment for stealing a child's innocence should be as severe, if not more, than for stealing money. If you want to stay up-to-date with us, follow our Page.

We’re entering a new year, but our resolution remains the same: a world where no one is bought, sold, or exploited. Will you make that your resolution as we ring in 2025? In just this past year, our community of supporters has helped to: - Free 400 children, women, and men from human trafficking. - Arrest 482 perpetrators. - Train 19,255 law enforcement officers and citizens, sharpening their skills in fighting trafficking. - Provide aftercare to 403 survivors, including trauma-informed counseling, legal support, medical care, and housing. We want to make an even bigger impact in the next year. To do that, we urgently need your help. Make a tax-deductible gift before the year ends to ensure that The Exodus Road can continue finding and freeing the children, women, and men trapped in trafficking right now. Will you make a resolution that could be someone’s freedom? Give now: https://lnkd.in/gtCK4hFB

Vote-By-Mail has started and Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. EBAYC has endorsed YES on MEASURE NN and encourages all Oakland voters to vote YES on this important public safety measure. MEASURE NN is designed to raise revenue solely to pay for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a citywide Community Violence Reduction Plan designed to achieve meaningful reductions in violent crime. This results-driven approach balances investments in community violence prevention, police, and fire services, and empowers a citizens’ planning and oversight commission and an independent budget auditor to monitor and account for the effective use of revenue raised by MEASURE NN.

Usually we talk about how nonprofits and foundations engage in advocacy. Our next two blogs are different. We focus on how foundations and nonprofits can increase voter participation in the United States. This will make people uneasy because it smacks of politics. We think it essential. Advocacy only has impact when leaders are fairly elected to listen and act. https://lnkd.in/eiZFYjPu
Foundations can do more, much more, to save democracy.

Ultimately, this is a life or death matter and we are not only preventing crime, but we are preventing fatalities! Victims and survivors need help. We must invest in the future of California and save lives. Due to a reduction in federal funds from the Office of Victims of Crime, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services is implementing a 44.7% reduction in funding to crime victim services. This is tangible proof we still need these funds to support our victims and survivors! Too many will be staying in violent relationships or family situations without The guidance of professional services that ultimately prevent current violence, future patterns, and cycles. (for instance, transgenerational trauma). These funds are an investment in our children's futures and our children's futures. The dangers of the cutbacks affect not only individuals but hinder collective societal growth. This statistic isn’t just a number; it’s a reflection of systemic biases that continue to pervade our society and legal system. This disparity isn’t just about being stopped—it’s about the ripple effects these stops can have on individuals’ lives, communities, and trust in the legal system. It’s a call to action for all of us to advocate for fairness, accountability, and reform. Here's how you can help make a difference: ➡️ Educate Yourself and Others: Knowledge is power. Learn about systemic racism, its history, and its ongoing impact. Share what you learn with friends, family, and on social media to raise awareness. ➡️ Support Reform-Oriented Policies and Politicians: Vote for and support politicians and policies that aim to reform practices contributing to racial disparities. This includes measures to increase police accountability, end racial profiling, and promote community policing efforts. ➡️ Engage with Your Community: Attend town hall meetings, join local advocacy groups, or participate in community discussions about policing and justice reform. Your voice can help shape community policies and practices. ➡️ Support Affected Communities: Donate to or volunteer with organizations fighting for racial justice and legal reform. Supporting those directly affected by these issues can lead to tangible changes. ➡️ Practice Active Bystandership: If you witness a stop or interaction that seems unjust, safely document it. Being a witness can provide accountability and can be instrumental in advocacy efforts. ➡️ Promote Dialogue: Engage in conversations about racial justice and systemic inequities. While these discussions can be challenging, they are necessary for understanding and change. By taking these steps, we can all contribute to a future where justice and equity are not just ideals, but realities.

Comment “NEED” to learn how YOU can protect your rights, challenge the system, and take back control! Did you know child support in Georgia (and beyond) operates more like a money-making machine than a system for supporting children? 🤔 The state profits from federal incentives tied to child support collections, turning what should be about the kids into a billion-dollar industry! 💰 🚨 Many parents are unaware that this system often ignores true co-parenting efforts and weaponizes financial obligations. It's time to ask the tough questions: Is child support really for the benefit of the child? 🧒 Why are custodial and non-custodial parents pitted against each other? 📢 Let’s expose the fraud and demand accountability! Our kids deserve a system that truly supports their needs—not a business agenda. 💔 Swipe for the facts and join the conversation. 💬 👉 Comment “NEED” to learn how YOU can protect your rights, challenge the system, and take back control! #ChildSupportFraud #ExposingTheSystem #ParentalRights #GeorgiaLaws #FamilyFirst"

On this Giving Tuesday, we are reminded of the power of collective action to drive meaningful change. At Justice Innovation Lab, we believe in building a more just and effective legal system—and thanks to supporters like you, we’re doing just that. In Charleston, South Carolina, Solicitor Scarlett Wilson challenged the status quo, redesigning the intake process to identify and remove inadequate cases from the system, freeing up resources to prioritize more serious crime. With JIL’s help, she tested this innovation using a groundbreaking randomized control trial—the first of its kind by an elected prosecutor. In Ramsey County, Minnesota, County Attorney John Choi addressed the harmful practice of “pretextual” traffic stops. Partnering with JIL, his office reduced these stops by 86%—enhancing public trust without compromising safety. Over 5,300 unnecessary encounters were avoided, creating safer streets for everyone. These successes prove that change is possible. But there’s so much more to do. Communities across the country are eager to adopt innovative solutions like these, and your support is the key to making that happen. This Giving Tuesday, will you join us in advancing justice? Your generous gift will allow us to: 🌟 Expand our programs to new jurisdictions 🌟 Develop and test bold, evidence-based reforms 🌟 Build a safer, fairer system for everyone Together, we can amplify this momentum and bring lasting change to communities nationwide.
