You asked, Alison answered! Here’s your chance to get insider knowledge and put your best foot forward before submitting your manuscript. In Part 3 of the Little Moa #AMA, Alison answers the following questions: - How many books get printed in the first print run? - Is word count a huge deciding factor if you love the premise and writing? - Would you prefer to see stories about human or animal characters? - Is it normal for publishers to ask authors to cover partial costs of publishing? If your question hasn’t been answered yet, be sure to stay tuned for the final instalment coming tomorrow 🤩

Returned from a writing workshop with lots of critiques? Had a first draft of your work read and reviewed by others? You don't have to, but you may want to put your manuscript aside just as you would a first draft. "I grab the manuscripts and Word docs with all of the helpful comments and recommendations and put them away for later. Yep. You read that right. I NEVER look at the feedback until I start and complete a new novel. Here's why . . ." https://lnkd.in/gt6ezxpU #writingtips NovelMasterClass #writingadvice #fictionwriting #amwriting #amwritingfiction #amwritingfantasy #amwritingromance

Novel Update: Been a very productive couple weeks. My goal now is to have a 280-300 page manuscript ready for editing by mid-summer. For perspective, John Grisham begins a new novel every year on January 1st and finishes a draft manuscript by the end of March, then a complete manuscript by July. He writes 5 days a week for 3 hours per day, aiming for ~1 page or ~200 words per day. Not quite there yet, but it’s a good target to aim for. #fictionwriting #johngrisham #bemore #becomepolymathic

Seven years of conceptualizing, two years of writing, 133 chapters, 125,465 words, 357 pages, and one temporary book cover. My fourth novel, The Receiver, is complete!! It's Contact meets National Treasure, with a quantum twist. Who wants to be a beta reader? Must love hard science fiction. #SciFi #sciencefiction

Day 15 of the Metamorphosis Literary Agency #100MetamorphosisAuthors in #100Days presents Chris M. Arnone, included in NewScientist's best new science fiction books of January 2024, the Necropolis Alpha series is one to begin today if you haven't. Advice to writers: Write every day. Work on one large project at a time. Find the routines for writing and editing that work best for you, which means trying different methods like trying on pants. Finish your big projects. Seriously, just finish something before moving on to the next one. https://lnkd.in/g7n_66GK

Looking for something different and interesting to read? I've teamed up with some other sci-fi writers to offer some unique sci-fi reads for FREE. Spending time and money on a new author is risky when you only have so many hours, so take advantage of these free books to sample someone's writing. You may discover someone fabulous! I think the 45th parallel looks particularly interesting. Good thought experiments! https://lnkd.in/gaKnCVdt #scifi #FutureOfLeadership #scifibooks
