More delay to the Renters Reform Bill - a new clause has been added leaving more confusion as to when Section 21 will be abandoned..👇 Despite the Bill passing the final stage in the Commons last night, it seems the Bill will now not be implemented before the next general election as Michael Gove promised. Last night, Ministers agreed to amend the Bill to ensure no ban of the Section 21 will be introduced until the court system has been reviewed and deemed fit for purpose. This may seem logical, but with no specific timeline agreed and an indefinite delay to the Bill, this potentially has created more problems than it aims to solve ☕️. Check out my blog post "Winners and losers of housing policies: The stamp duty in focus". Very topical, one week before the general election, given one of the parties suggests again to use the stamp duty holiday to "solve" the housing crisis. https://wix.to/J16qOYk #affordablehousing #stampduty #newblogpost

“Something’s got to give.” In our latest briefing, Ross Mudie argues that the question is not whether taxes or borrowing will need to be raised over the next parliament, but how to raise revenue. Click the link below for more: https://lnkd.in/eeKYZ3E7

Phase #1 of the Green Line (Shepard land fill to Eau Claire) is certain to be over the $5.5 billion, pre-inflation budget, by $3-5. Billion. The only way to pay for this is to go after taxpayers. But how in the world do they ever hope to build and pay for the next phase, that will actually serve the greatest population (Seton and the South hospital to downtown). Calgary is indeed going to end up with a C-train line from nowhere to nowhere, with few new riders, and ongoing operating costs - and the people who really need transportation services, will be left without a solution. None of this makes sense. Council must be pressed to rethink the Green Line.
Council plans to steamroll taxpayers into paying for the first phase of a multi-billion-dollar transit line that goes nowhere. There’s a better way! See https://lnkd.in/gqQbzqka

This is a great start to the repurposing of underperforming shopping centers and other CRE properties. I would love to see this same type of legislation geared toward office space. Imagine the possibilities! As a legislative committee member of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors I track this type of legislation; and in many cases like this one we support and lobby for bills in the house and senate of the PA Capital with legislatures. #zoningreform #centralpa #cre
Pa. House panel passes bills to spur #redevelopment of struggling #malls and Main Streets. The legislation would create a grant program for historic buildings and tax abatements to repurpose blighted shopping centers https://lnkd.in/evVQbTDR @penncapitalstar #blight #local

Really great article summarizing the current spending/debt crisis at several OC cities, and how the pending sales tax increase on the ballot this November is most certainly NOT going to 911 operators!! "It’s certainly true that the cost of most everything has gone up as of late. But at least part of what’s putting the hurt on city budgets is of the cities’ own doing: the sweetened pension promises they bestowed upon public workers, especially those in emergency services like police and firefighting, decades ago, as well as the salary hikes they’ve given since." Most councilmembers cite 'dire fiscal times' as the reason they voted to support tax increases, yet you will see dramatic spikes in income for city employees either right before, or immediately after these votes. https://lnkd.in/g9NSagXk
Why are so many sales tax hikes on city ballots Nov. 5?
