You may know that June is Pride Month, which is a time to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. But, do you know how, and in what manner, a brand is able to support and advocate for the LGBTQ community? Why it matters 👇 🌈 Today’s LGBTQ+ consumers and their allies expect brands to walk-the-walk to capitalize on Pride for their business, which is why it's of the utmost importance for a brand to create authentic content, take action/a lead position and demonstrate a genuine commitment to cause. Brands that show support and actively celebrate individuality and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community know that it is important from a human rights and ethical standpoint. Representing the community also attracts and retains a diverse customer base and/or workforce, and impacts market expansion and potential partnering opportunities. They also know 👇 👉 LGBTQ+ consumers are most definitely aware of disingenuous or opportunistic marketing campaigns around Pride and aren't shy about calling that brand out on social media. 👉 57% of consumers around the world will buy or boycott a brand solely because of its position on a social issue. 👉 When a brand speaks out and belief-driven buyers agree with its position, 23% of consumers will pay at least a 25% premium; 48% will advocate for/defend a brand (and criticize its competitors); and 51% will stay loyal to that brand. 👉 Consumers expect brands to lead the movement for change and address critical problems. 👉 Millennials represent $2.45 trillion in spending power. They are 60% more likely to engage with brands that discuss social causes. Key Takeaway 👇 Brand campaigns that demonstrate social responsibility, drive equity, diversity and inclusivity through action, and celebrate the LGBTQ community continue to make a meaningful impact in people's lives while setting a high standard for other brands. #pridemonth #lgbtq #lovewins #loveislove #equality #inclusion #diversity Artwork by Steve Zimmer

How the industry can become more inclusive and diverse 📽 Ben Cicchetti and I discussed on the Programmatic Pulse, on a whole range of topics - the journey of InfoSum, reacting to rapid change, and most importantly inclusivity in the industry The media industry has a crucial role in representing LGBTQ+ people, both externally in advertising and internally as employers. Externally: 🔸 Media shapes perceptions and normalizes diversity. 🔸 Advertising must depict LGBTQ+ people authentically and inclusively. 🔸 The media around ads should also reflect this inclusivity. Internally: 🔹 Create a workplace where LGBTQ+ employees feel they belong. 🔹 Focus on hiring diverse talent and ensuring they can live their authentic selves at work. 🔹 Address comfort at industry events, as LGBTQ+ individuals often feel unwelcome. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can improve both hiring practices and event inclusivity in our industry? #hiring #events #lgbtq #inclusivity #diversity

With Pride Month in full swing and companies running events, designing rainbow logos, and drafting messages to show support for the LGBTQ+ community, leaders may still question if this is enough. This month, CEOs are being urged to focus on meaningful actions that align with their vision and values. Prioritize the greater good, as what's beneficial for your coworkers, consumers, and company also supports the LGBTQ+ community. Successful CEOs recognize that profitability stems from forward-thinking. Ben & Jerry's, a top-selling brand, championed LGBTQ+ rights well before it became popular, illustrating the value of visionary leadership. And while the LGBTQ+ community is large, it also has significant purchasing power, amounting to $3.9 trillion globally, highlighting clear future opportunities. LGBTQ+ employees and consumers expect corporate leaders to act with integrity, regardless of profitability, popularity, or media coverage. Take decisive actions that reflect your values to build a better future for your employees, company, and the LGBTQ+ community. #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Inclusion #CorporateResponsibility
