🌍🚨 Climate Change and Human Health: Five Key Areas for Action
As the world focuses on #COP29, the intersection of climate change and health is finally getting the attention it deserves. Michael Head and Jessica Boxall ANutr have published an article in The Conversation highlighting five critical areas where urgent action is needed:
1️. New and emerging infectious diseases
2️. Food security and nutrition
3️. Access to healthcare
4️. Air quality
5️. Extreme heat
Policymaking in these areas is vital to safeguard public health in the face of climate challenges. Join the conversation and explore their insights here: https://buff.ly/4fri6FJ#ClimateHealth#PublicPolicy#COP29#Sustainability#GlobalHealth

The World Health Organization COP 29 Special Report on Climate Change and Health is a call to action!
Climate change is making us sick; urgent action is a matter of life and death.
Health is indeed the argument for climate action.
This report is a collective call to action from the health community on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
As Member States review their Nationally Determined Contributions to achieve their goals to meet the Paris Agreement, we must not think of the commitments as expenditures. These are investments in a healthier future.
Our health is not and can never be negotiable!

Health systems bear the brunt of climate loss and damage, with maternal and child health services at severe risk when facilities are damaged. COP 29 must direct funds to support resilient health infrastructure that protects lives, even amid extreme climate events. #LossAndDamage#HealthInfrastructure#COP29#SDG3
As COP 29 negotiates climate finance goals, let’s prioritize health resilience, especially for vulnerable populations facing rising climate-related health risks. We need bold NCQG commitments to safeguard health for all and build a future that’s resilient and equitable. #NCQG#ClimateResilience#HealthForAll#COP29
Communities impacted by climate disasters are often on the move, making it harder to access healthcare and essential medicines. In these situations, we need tools that are long-lasting and simple to use. Investing in R&D can fuel the #innovation needed to meet this challenge head-on. #COP29

★ The Impact of Climate Change on Human Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Property
As the effects of climate change continue to unfold, we are witnessing profound consequences that extend beyond just rising temperatures. Here's a closer look at the far-reaching impact:
1. Human Health 🏥: Extreme heatwaves, poor air quality, and changing disease patterns are putting human lives at risk. The increase in respiratory issues, heat-related illnesses, and the spread of vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue are just some of the consequences we're facing.
2. Agriculture 🌾: Changing rainfall patterns, increased temperatures, and frequent droughts are threatening global food security. Crop yields are decreasing, and farmers are struggling to adapt to unpredictable weather, leading to potential food shortages and higher prices.
3. Infrastructure 🏗️: Rising sea levels, floods, and extreme weather events are taking a toll on our infrastructure. Roads, bridges, and buildings are increasingly vulnerable, demanding significant investments in adaptation and resilience to withstand future climate impacts.
4. Property 🏡: Coastal and low-lying areas are particularly at risk from rising sea levels and storms, causing property damage and economic losses. Homeowners and businesses are facing higher insurance premiums, and some areas may become uninsurable or uninhabitable.
As we head towards #COP29, it is critical that we unite globally to accelerate climate action, protect our planet, and secure a sustainable future. 🌱🔄
