Access & opportunity are two very different things… A lot of the families and communities we work with are made aware of certain opportunities they may have for assistance, but they may not always have the resources or ability to access them ⛔️ And, often times, the mental overload or intimidation of trying to access certain resources can prevent them from seeking those opportunities. Fear, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed- all powerful and valid feelings when it comes to needing help or not knowing “where to start”. Our goal at Pueblos of California is to not just give our community an opportunity to receive the help or resources they need, but provide as much accessibility as possible - removing limitations, intimidations, and so on. We are here to help 🧡 simple as that. #pueblosofca #nonprofitorganization #increaseaccess #mentalhealthmatters #healthmatters #southerncalifornia #anaheim #familysupport

How much does a telephone call to a lonely person cost? We are taking part in the Big Give #Kind2Mind campaign which means if we can raise £5,000 it will be matched, pound for pound. £10,000 will make an enormous difference to us as we’re currently fundraising to keep our Buddy and Befriending project going so we can carry on providing weekly phone called to over 360 lonely and socially isolated people, some of whom don’t hear from anyone else between phone calls. The government published a ‘Loneliness Monetisation Report’ in June 2020, which estimates that the wellbeing cost of moderate to severe loneliness is equivalent to £9,537 per person per year. Therefore: - £21 would fund our Buddy & Befriending programme to provide four friendly phone calls to a lonely or isolated older person. - £250 would fund our Buddy & Befriending programme to provide a friendly, weekly phone call to a lonely or socially isolated person for a year. - £750 would fund our Buddy & Befriending programme to provide a friendly, weekly phone call to around six lonely or isolated older people for six months. - £1,500 would fund our Buddy & Befriending programme to provide a friendly, weekly phone call to around six lonely or isolated older people for a year. We need your help to carry on making these phone calls. Please donate via the link below to help us combat loneliness in our community. Thursday Tip: 🤔 Struggling to Get a Policymaker Interested in Your Ask? Here’s How! One of the biggest challenges in policy influencing is getting a policymaker to care about your issue—so how do you make your ask stand out? 🔑 Here’s a Tip: Align Your Ask with Their Priorities Before you reach out, do some research. Look at their recent speeches, social media posts, and the committees they serve on. Tailor your message to show how your issue ties into something they’re already focusing on. This way, you’re not just presenting a problem—you’re offering a solution that fits with their agenda. Example: Instead of saying, “We need more funding for youth services,” try: “I noticed your recent focus on community development. Investing in youth services would strengthen community ties and reduce future social issues.” The key is to show them why your ask should matter to them. 👉 Want more tailored tips like this? This reminds me of Simon Sinek's latest book, The Infinite Game, and why I joined Spring Health: to build the foundation for a healthier, happier, more healed future. Our recent launch of the Community Care Solution reflects our enduring commitment to member-centered care, customer-obsessed partnerships, and advocacy for systemic change. It's moments like these that make me proud to be part of Spring Health. Physical, mental, and social health are interconnected; those with unmet needs are 2x more likely to use healthcare services and 5x more likely to face mental health challenges. When employers and consultants design benefits, it's counterproductive not to consider unmet social needs. This isn't just about doing "the right thing"; it's also the most cost-effective and life-transformative approach. “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”. - African Proverb. I'm so proud of our launch of our Community Care solution today. The Spring Health platform now integrates over 500,000 verified community resources across all 50 states—including food banks, government programs, and non-profit organizations. By screening and connecting individuals to local resources and experts, Spring Health’s Community Care solution provides whole-person support tackling the social and economic factors that influence health outcomes. Our mission is to eliminate every barrier to mental health, and today feels like a giant leap forward. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gm774saZ

Hot off the presses, Ontario Nonprofit Network has released the data from their annual State of the Sector survey. The news is a mix of many grim stats and some hopefulness about the future. Nonprofits are continuously asked to do more with less, even though we support some of the most vulnerable Ontarians. This leads to an increasing number of people whose needs are not being met. The fact is that the cost of doing nothing continues to increase - from emergency systems that are strained to increasing numbers of unhoused (or precariously housed) to the growing number of people not getting help for mental health and addiction issues. Please read the report...and then help to advocate for a strong, healthy and resilient nonprofit sector that is ready to meet emerging needs and help people in Ontario live well. #HelpStartsHere #NonprofitDifference #SafetyNet #Ontario

[Endorsement] Thank you for your endorsement, Mayor Jeff Toborg, PMP! Visit the link in my bio to learn more about me, volunteer, and donate. As commissioner, I will bring my commitment to community service to address the challenges we face. We will: • Hold Sheriff Brown accountable for overspending and administrative issues that affect law enforcement quality. • Ensure our law enforcement is well-equipped, trained, and staffed without breaking the budget. • Implement a “Treatment First” approach to homelessness, focusing on underlying problems before permanent housing and keeping community members in temporary shelters during treatment. • Reevaluate affordable housing strategies, focusing on improving the economics of building modest, affordable homes. • Enhance our sense of community to reduce the mental health impacts of isolation and loneliness. #Tyler4Commissioner #Endorsement4Tyler
