Conversations with GenZs!!! At our annual offsite in the last 2.5 days, I got to know our team a little better beyond work! Some of these members are as young as 1 week in the organisation and the reflections we had together were nothing short of profound! These conversations also nudged us at VMentor.ai to think about what culture we want to build for this young talent who entrusted us with their careers and a long journey ahead of them! As always, the metaphor in my reflection was: If I had a magic wand what would I do differently for this generation of professionals:🪄 ✈️ Build a safe culture for them to express, explore, experiment and enjoy themselves! ✈️ Expose them to key skills early on: Technology, comfort with data and Analytics, problem solving and above all being empathetic to the needs to customers and internal stakeholders ✈️ Display role model behaviours: they are learning fast and learning by observing each one of us! The mandate is to be conscious of who we are being in the organisation every single day! ✈️ have them Co create the future! They join us at a time when exponential growth is staring at us! Our commitment is to give them agency to create a future that they find meaningful and hear their unique voices! Onwards and upwards! 🚀 Excited to Share My Thesis on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity at Finext! 🌍 Last July, after months of research and analysis, I've managed to defend my thesis with success! I'm thrilled to present my findings on how Finext has embraced diversity, inclusion, and equity (DEI) in recent years. My thesis delves into the company's journey from having no foreign employees before 2020 to hiring 19 different nationalities by 2024. This shift reflects Finext's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Some key highlights: 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞: As of April 2024, Finext boasts employees from 14 different nationalities, with a significant increase in female representation, rising from 10% in 2020 to 20% in 2024. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: The DEI policy is designed as an extension of Finext's core values—Trust, Talent and Teamwork. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: The policy can foster greater engagement, innovation, and efficiency within the company, although challenges such as tokenism and resistance are acknowledged. My research also compares Finext's DEI strategies with those of other leading organizations, offering insights into effective practices and the need for clear objectives and ongoing evaluation. I'm grateful to everyone at Finext for their support and for creating an environment where diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords but core principles. Recently, we had the pleasure of attending the People Culture TechFest 🌐, where one of the inspiring moments was a panel led by Inga Safader Powroźnik, titled “Intergenerational Dialogue – Luxury or Necessity?” 💡. The panelists – Wiktoria Nowak 👩💼, Katarzyna Bieniek 👩💻, Tomasz Gawel 👨💼, and Marek Kapturkiewicz from our team 🤝 – shared their insights on the impact of intergenerational collaboration on company growth and work culture 🏢✨. Key takeaways from the discussion: 🔹 Generational diversity as a source of innovation: The panelists emphasized that each generation – from Baby Boomers to Gen Z – brings a unique perspective to challenges, fostering innovation and helping organizations adapt to technological changes. This diversity enables companies to create more comprehensive and flexible strategies that support growth 🚀✨. 🔹 Mutual learning: The discussion highlighted that intergenerational dialogue is a two-way exchange – younger generations contribute fresh perspectives and technological expertise, while older generations share their knowledge and experience. This exchange strengthens relationships and enhances skills across the team 🌐🤝. 🔹 Mentorship and collaboration as drivers of innovation: Multigenerational teams, especially in startup environments, combine solid business foundations with the enthusiasm and energy of younger generations, accelerating innovation. In conclusion, intergenerational dialogue is not a luxury but a necessity, allowing companies to better prepare for changes in the labor market and demographic challenges. 🚀 Excited to share a recent success story from my work with Williams Tomide Sodunke of CoterieX ! 🌟 Recently, I spearheaded a comprehensive market survey focusing on the challenges facing young professionals. With over 150 responses, I meticulously analyzed the data to uncover key insights. Demographically, 90% of respondents fell within the 15-30 age range, with a significant portion being self-employed individuals—a valuable demographic for CoterieX's community. The survey revealed a spectrum of challenges, from mental health issues to career advancement obstacles. Reasons varied, including work-life balance struggles and the pursuit of skill acquisition. Delving deeper, I identified opportunities for CoterieX to step in and make a difference. An overwhelming 88% expressed familiarity with personal development communities, highlighting a strong potential for engagement. Additionally, respondents expressed a keen interest in courses covering self-evaluation, leadership, communication, tech, and sales/marketing skills. Even more promising, 80% expressed willingness to engage with CoterieX's offerings, including mentorship programs and financial aid opportunities. I'm proud to say that CoterieX is poised to make a meaningful impact by providing tailored support, community access, mentorship opportunities, and personal development courses. #CrossTheDoor - Filling up batteries of inspiration ✨ Last week I had the luck of participating as #keynote speaker in the monthly women empowerment event of Gerresheimer, a global manufacturing multinational for drugs delivery systems in pharma, health and biotech. Was a great experience in first instance because of getting to know further their program #WETalk, to motivate further diversity in their communities. Well structured, focused and driven by a motivated and professional group of internal ambassadors like Beatriz Gracia Olivan, Carolin Martens and Katja Schnitzler. Thank you for the invitation. Very inspiring what your are doing, I got filled with ideas 💡 ! The virtual room was full of women and men from all over the world. A responsibility and, I have to admit it, at the same time a moment of personal growth and fun. ➡️ Responsibility because I value the time of the people that decided to spend it on this. ➡️ Growth because I take very seriously the preparation and I learn a lot along the way every time. ➡️ And fun because, once we start, that healthy previous tension disappears, and all becomes a nice conversation between people loving lifelong learning approach in life. Just pure pleasure 😊 I shared some stories of successes and failures; about the power of believes; about generosity; about the capacity to connect the dots and simplify; about the importance of honest constructive feedback; about belonging to a tribe and feel supported. All of them surrounded by one core idea: crossing new doors that open on your way.
