We proudly announce that our project MaxH2DR "Maximise H2 Enrichment in Direct Reduction Shaft Furnaces" won the price 'National Winner Germany' of the Net-Zero-Industries Award 2024 in the category Outstanding Projects. The Net-Zero-Industries Awards in several categories were presented on November 18 at the COP29 in Baku. The Net-Zero Industries Mission launched in 2022 as global innovation coalition with the goal of developing and demonstrating cost-competitive solutions to create a net-zero industries future. The Mission is led by Austria and Australia, in collaboration with Canada, China, the European Commission, Finland, Germany, the Republic of Korea, the UK and the USA, and will deliver at least 50 large-scale demonstration projects around the world by 2030. Let's see some facts first: ◾#EIIs (steel, cement, chemicals etc) are often presented as #hard to abate sectors, meaning hard to #decarbonise. Kitchener-based water treatment supplier H2nanO is working closely with Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA), an alliance of oil sands companies working with scientists, academics and innovators to make Canadian energy part of a sustainable environment. Founded by University of Waterloo Faculty of Engineering alum Zac Young (MASc ‘20, Chemical Engineering), H2nanO is committed to addressing the pressing need for new, sustainable water treatment solutions. The oil sands industry relies heavily on water for its extraction processes, resulting in significant volumes of contaminated water.
