🌍 Staying on course when approaching storms. 🌊 Last week, ChangeNOW and BSR hosted a Chief Sustainability Officers gathering at Moët Hennessy’s headquarters to discuss insights from BSR’s new report and to share panelists' perspectives on key issues in the sustainable business landscape. Here are my top five takeaways from the event: It’s All About Scaling Impact: "Reach the early majority as soon as possible." — Kevin Tayebaly, Co-Founder, ChangeNOW The Need for Policy Support: "Self-regulation doesn’t work; policymakers need to step up." — Veronique Toully, Global Head of Sustainability, UCB Diversity and Strong Leadership are Key: "A diverse board and a committed CEO who champions sustainability make all the difference." — Iris Maria Alexis Van der Veken, Executive Director, Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 Democracy as a Business Priority: "Democracy isn’t optional for business—it’s essential. We must use every tool we have to protect it." — Aron Cramer, President and CEO, BSR Refocusing on Impact Beyond Reporting: "After reporting, we need to refocus on the goal of creating real impact." — Aron Cramer, President and CEO, BSR 🌱 The journey towards sustainable transformation is definitely complex and challenging, and even more so when the global context is so shifty and unpredictable, but the voices I heard at this gathering were truly inspiring and energizing. Here is the latest report of BSR, Between Two Worlds: Navigating Sustainable Business in a Turbulent Transition, which explores how sustainable business practices might evolve in the coming years. #Sustainability #BusinessLeadership #ChangeNOW #BSR #Impact #SustainableBusiness #LeadershipForChange #CorporateResponsibility 👏 👏 👏 Camille Barrier for your work. 🖼 A piece of beauty to illustrate his words - a painting by Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky.

I’ve always been passionate about sustainability and wanted to learn how I could contribute to addressing the challenges we face. Hyper Island’s Sustainability Change Leadership program in Stockholm offered the perfect opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills needed to make a real impact. It was a community of like-minded individuals who shared my passion for making a difference, and who were also equipped with the tools and knowledge to actually do something about it. The best part was that we didn't just learn about sustainability; we immersed ourselves in it. The ABCD framework, for example, wasn’t just a buzzword; it became a real tool I used throughout different modules to navigate the complexities of the field. And systems thinking? It was a real mind-bender! Systems thinking gave me a new perspective on how to view the world and analyse the events. This approach really helps seeing the big picture, understanding how everything is connected, which is crucial for addressing sustainability issues. By understanding the interconnectedness of different systems, we can identify leverage points where small changes can have a big impact. Working with INGKA’s team on how to implement sustainability into one of their departments was also an enriching experience. The diverse perspectives and experiences brought together in that room were truly inspiring. It deepened my understanding of critical thinking and problem-solving, allowing me to approach challenges from new angles and develop innovative solutions. I learned so much about sustainability communication, too. How to craft messages that resonate, that inspire action. It’s not just about having great ideas; it’s about getting people on board. This was a program that provided me with invaluable experiences and skills. It gave me the tools and the confidence to become a more impactful sustainability leader. If you’re passionate about making a difference, I highly recommend checking it out. #hyperisland #scl

I am happy to share that I have been appointed as advisory board member of the Centre for Sustainability Transformation and Applied Reseach of the ESCP Business School (ESCP STAR), https://lnkd.in/ejjDbG6R. A study about the impact of sustainability on business transformation that was recently presented jointly by the Bertelsmann Stiftung and ESCP Star is worth a look at the key findings: - Business transformation and sustainability orientation are interdependent. - The majority of German companies are on the way to changing their business model. - The potential for the sustainable transformation of Germany's corporate value creation is immense. - Economic interests are at the forefront of business model changes - even in the case of sustainability-related changes - In retrospect, the role of politics as a facilitator of transformation thus far is seen as less beneficial, but deemed as essential when looking ahead. - Ecologically designed products and services as well as consideration of the circular economy are the most common forms of sustainable business model transformation. - Business model innovators focus servitisation and sustainability innovators take care of their supply chains. - Changing customer needs, decarbonization and the circular economy are the greatest sustainability opportunities for Germany's business models, but employees have the greatest influence, both as an opportunity and a risk. You can find the full report (in German) here: https://lnkd.in/eYYDuKR9. I am looking forward to contributing to sustainable transformation at the intersection of academia and practical application. What I’m Trying to Build I believe that true success lies not just in what we build, but in how we build it, and in the legacy we leave behind. Pura Vida Eco-Cottage is the embodiment of that belief—a vision where sustainable luxury meets a deep connection with nature. It’s a place where people come not just to visit, but to reconnect with the world around them, and within themselves. The foundation of this project is built on a few core values: people, sustainability, and community. We are creating a sanctuary in Costa Rica where guests experience the breathtaking beauty of nature while contributing to its preservation. Every cabin, every experience, is designed with the smallest possible environmental footprint and the largest possible impact on well-being. This isn’t just a business; it’s a movement toward mindful, responsible living. At the heart of Pura Vida Eco-Cottage is a leadership philosophy inspired by pioneers like Simon Sinek and Bob Chapman. Leadership, to me, is about service—putting people first, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, and fostering a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration. I envision leading a team that thrives not because of pressure, but because they believe in the purpose behind what they’re building. It’s not about numbers or targets; it’s about people who find meaning in their work, and in doing so, give their best. If my dream comes true, this will be more than an eco-lodge. It will be a place where people—guests, team members, and the local community—grow together. It’s about building a legacy that goes beyond profits, creating a lasting positive impact on both the environment and humanity. puravidaeco-cottage.com #Sustainability #Leadership #MindfulLiving #PuraVida #EcoCottage #BobChapman #SimonSinek #BuildForTomorrow
