"Every dream needs a team." If you have not had a chance to see the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team’s tribute to outgoing lead driver Lewis Hamilton, the 2 minute video is well worth it. https://lnkd.in/ezCP-TYE It is an emotional farewell, marking the end of their successful 12-year partnership. Hamilton himself has been visibly moved during this period. In his farewell speech at Mercedes' headquarters in Brackley, he expressed profound gratitude towards the team, stating, "You guys have been living in my dream, and hopefully I have been living partly in your dreams too." The emphasis on teamwork is hard to miss. As is the decision to celebrate the whole team as key to high performance. Much respect to the messaging designers who the recognised that fans (customers) needed some form of closure, to have a positive narrative to carry through what is a difficult adjustment. Several lessons for us in the B2B world, where the norm is to ignore the departure of high-impact colleagues. Public celebration of all that was achieved can do a world of good for team morale, don’t you think? Two examples that made an impression at the time - mostly because they were so rare. + Google's Goodbye to Marissa Mayer: When Marissa Mayer left Google to become Yahoo's CEO, Google honoured her contributions with a public farewell. Colleagues and the company expressed their appreciation through blog posts and social media, highlighting her impact on Google's products and culture. + Apple's Tribute to Jony Ive: When Jony Ive announced his departure, Apple publicly acknowledged his contributions. The company released statements celebrating his role in designing iconic products and shaping Apple's design philosophy, ensuring his legacy was recognised globally. Have you seen any examples of companies celebrating teamwork and achievements as one employee leaves for pastures new? #storytelling #collaboration
Thank You, Lewis

How companies say goodbye and thank you to departing employees says a great deal about their culture. It’s as important as the welcome yet as you say Puni, it’s rarely done with grace.
Brilliant inspirational ad! You are right Puni, contributions of those who have left companies are rarely recognised usually because the company needs to bolster teams and focus on the strengths they have. The rare ones get a decent send off especially if it elevates the company they are departing from. It's a win/win on this occasion. This is an incredible message for all young folks out there.
