Our Organic Pitahaya (dragon fruit) is now in season and the fields are full of vibrant pink fruits ready for harvesting. This delectable and unique fruit is grown in nutrient-dense soil close to the base of the active volcano, Masaya, where our partnering smallholder farmers use organic farming practices to care for the land and the crops. Each plant takes about three years from seed to harvest and harvesting takes place during the Nicaraguan winter, when rain is prevalent, so no manual irrigation is needed. The Pitahaya has a vibrant magenta color and peels away from its thick succulent rind very easily.
