We are proud to share that Pure Leisure Group has donated a lot to the Kyle Riverwoods silent auction! 🎉 As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, we believe in the importance of supporting initiatives that make a positive impact. Please help us contribute to vital projects. Their Mission: Rivers in the Kyle of Sutherland area are some of the most vulnerable to global warming. Rising temperatures are already stressing freshwater pearl mussels, killing trout and Atlantic salmon. Kyle Rivers Trust is part of a national initiative called Riverwoods aiming to restore native riverbank woodlands to create shade to keep rivers cool. We invite everyone to check out the auction and consider placing a bid on any of the fantastic lots to support this worthy cause. You can find more details here: https://lnkd.in/eGvd32Bs #KyleofSutherland #CommunitySupport #SilentAuction

Did you know the UK was once a thriving rainforest nation? 🌿 The British countryside is often celebrated for its natural beauty. But in reality, it's a barren wasteland compared to the rich and diverse land that once existed. Temperate rainforest – now a globally rare habitat – once cloaked vast areas of Britain's western regions. Over the centuries, it has fallen victim to logging for timber, industrial agriculture, nibbling livestock and hunting estates. These wild, wet, and wonderful ecosystems are home to a variety of species, some incredibly rare. They act as natural flood defences and are proving to be effective carbon sinks. They are also deeply rooted in our cultural identity. Today, tiny fragments (less than 1%) still desperately cling on. Yet thanks to the incredible work of the Cumbria Wildlife Trust, this fragile habitat will be making a BIG comeback in the Lake District. By purchasing Skiddaw, England's sixth highest mountain, the Trust is planning to inject life back into a lifeless, nibbled-to-death landscape. Skiddaw will hopefully become a rich mosaic of habitats, including temperate rainforest. You can help bring Britain’s rainforests back to life. Support the Cumbria Wildlife Trust today by donating or spreading the word about their vital work to protect and restore these rare ecosystems. Together, we can ensure this incredible habitat thrives once more: https://lnkd.in/eNp95RfP #rewilding #temperaterainforest #sustainabilitywriter #rewildingbritain #blogwriter #sustainability #biodiversity #climateaction

As March is B Corp month we wanted to share an update on Meadow Mission, an initiative that was born out of the accreditation process. Since 2021 we've donated 2% of turnover to create wildflower meadows, a vital habitat for bees with our charity partner Plantlife International. To date, with our customers help, we’ve planted over 20 acres! We've lost 98% of our wildflower meadows since the 1940's which is a vital habitat for honey bees as well as many other invertebrates, mammals, bats, and birds. Meadows also store carbon. There is some research suggesting that a flower-full meadow can store 30% more carbon than a flower-less meadow. As Black Bee Honey grows and requires more honey we need to ensure there's more biodiversity to support the bees producing it. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e5Uqr_iy #bcorpmonth #bcorp B Lab UK

✨🌳 Lower Chew Forest will be the South West’s biggest new woodland in a generation: a huge 100,000 tree forest across 422 acres between Bristol and Bath. 🌳✨ But it’s not only trees! To maximise the benefits for our climate and nature, we’ll be creating a mosaic of habitats including species-rich grassland, wetlands, and miles of hedgerow. Our woodland will be for people too, a beautiful natural space for communities to connect with, learn, and enjoy. Each week of our crowdfunding campaign, we’ll be sharing more of our plans with you for Lower Chew Forest and the incredible benefits it will deliver for our region. This coming week, we’ll be focusing on species-rich grassland and hedgerows - stay tuned for more! 🐝🦋🌸 To begin establishing Lower Chew Forest this winter, we need your help. Your donation will help us get the first trees in the ground before Christmas, and establish a mix of diverse habitats to support nature’s recovery. What’s more is every donation (up to £250) will be matched offline - doubling your impact! The climate and nature crisis simply can’t wait. Friday inspiration: WWT Rebrand. Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust rebrand. Weapons of mass creation. Good work. New brand work from my old agency home, Good Agency: a new brand and brand purpose for international wetland restoration charity WWT. Few people realise what incredible, superpowered ecosystems wetlands are and the impact their restoration could have on our world. In the fight against the climate crisis, wetlands are a powerful weapon. Every time a wetland is restored, it locks up carbon – even faster than a forest can. The UK is losing wetlands at a staggering rate. 87% are gone, and much of what is left is in danger. Through its rebrand, WWT champions wetlands as that rare and special thing: a natural solution to our greatest challenge and the path to the future we can all rely on. https://lnkd.in/eWRJ2fJW #Charity #Brand #Purpose

We need wildfire reform and better forest management practices in BC. The McDougall Creek fire did not need to happen; excess red tape & bureaucracy, unwillingness to work with local experts, and mismanagement is what caused the fire to get out of control. Wildfires need to be put out rapidly and forests need to be managed effectively. An incredible group of locals, including several Registered Professional Foresters, are looking to make a documentary highlighting how we can turn the dial and bring health and prosperity back to our forest and prevent wildfires from devastating our province. It's about the environment, preservation, sustainability, and even economic stability. For our forests, and for our future. Please watch this trailer and consider donating to make this vision a reality! https://lnkd.in/gzUs6EWu
