So many applications for about 50,000 spots, and that's just for one race, just for one year. That's a lot of disappointment. How many people attend the Super Bowl each year, about 70,000? What's the ratio to the TV audience? We'd all love to attend the live event, but if it sells out or isn't practical, wouldn't it be nice to let runners around the world see, hear and feel the same shared experience of the event, at home, through an interactive video simulation, on their treadmill (or other cardio equipment) to take part remotely and officially, to have an alternative to…. nothing? #opportunityknocking #outsideinteractive #racedaysimulation #inclusion

POINTLESS warm up? Or a PB WARM UP? I will always be the biggest critic of long distance runners who warm up. Studies show…well actually they show nothing. But if you take them by face value then they show the smallest differences that warming up (mainly stretching) make you slower by reducing the musculo-tendinous stiffness and elastic energy potential. What do I normally do: 1. Stay in my car with the heating on until the their is a full queue at the start line and then jump in 2. If I can’t do that, stay in my throw away charity jumper until the gun goes and throw it away as I cross the start line And then use the first 1-2km to warm up, find my rhythm, go slower than pace so I don’t burn my energy quick. Easy right? Not always. Warming up DOES do a lot more than physically prep an athlete. Look at F1….we warm up 50 minutes before the start of the race….you think that does anything to the body…nope! BUT what it DOES do….is preps the mind. Clears the noise. Shifts the focus. It’s time to go to work. And if a warm does that for you. Then IT IS IMPORTANT. But if that is so, let’s make the most of this valuable time taking component. Here you go, your welcome! 1. Squats 2. Calf raises 3. Step and lands 4. Pogos 5. Calf steps Do as many of these as you like! / However long it takes to convince yourself that yes, yes you are about to run this distance. And you know what….if you have done the training you are going to be absolutely fine!! Well done! If you haven’t done the training….those stretches ain’t going to save ya!! ______________________________________ #londonmarathon #marathontraining #marathon #runnersofinstagram #runningmotivation #london #runningwarmup
