When a fire emergency happens, quick and clear communication with 999 can be crucial. Here's how to make an effective call: In part 2 of our 3 part series, we'll show you how to call 999 effectively in a fire emergency scenario. Ensure Your Safety First: Before calling 999, evacuate the building and move to a safe distance. Don't stop to collect belongings. Dial 999: Call 999 and request the fire service. Make the call as soon as you're safely away from the fire. Provide Your Location: Give the exact address or location of the fire. If outside, use nearby landmarks or street names to help firefighters locate it quickly. Describe the Fire: Clearly explain the situation: "There's a house fire at [address]." "The fire is spreading quickly." Mention visible signs like smoke or flames. Inform if anyone is trapped or if dangerous substances are involved. Do Not Re-Enter the Building: Once evacuated, do not go back inside. Wait for the fire service to arrive. Find these tips helpful?
