These tests are a crucial part of the project’s development plan and are important for several reasons: • They help determine if specific construction solutions are appropriate for the site. • They help determine the depth for placing foundations to match soil and geological conditions. • They allow precise static calculations to ensure the stability and safety of constructions so they don’t fly away in tornadoes like drones 🌪️ to the neighbourhood country. The result? The project will adopt solutions that not only meet the highest safety standards but also considerably optimise costs and enhance project efficiency. 🌊Marine Research's Ongoing Commitment to Hydropower Excellence🌊 At Marine Research, we’re proud to contribute to the understanding and optimization of Romania's hydroelectric infrastructure. A notable example of this is the Turnu Dam, a critical part of the Olt River hydropower system, commissioned in 1981 and located near the historic Cozia and Turnu Monasteries. The Turnu Dam is unique in many ways: 🔹 Highest Fall on the Olt River With a fall of 24 meters, Turnu boasts the greatest water drop on the Olt, optimizing energy production. 🔹 Engineering Marvel It’s the only dam on the Olt equipped with bottom stakes, a spillway, and flap gates, coupled with the shortest dams (780 meters) along the river. 🔹 Vital Water Management Role The reservoir, holding 13 million cubic meters of water, plays a crucial role in regulating the flow from the Lotru River, ensuring stability for downstream hydropower operations. #Gazprom's Management Committee has been updated on the progress of work on the implementation of the company's projects connected to the production and supply of #LNG. It was noted that the company is consistently strengthening its positions in this business segment to further increase the flexibility and reliability of gas supplies to consumers. In Eastern Russia, a large-tonnage #LNG plant continues operating as part of the #Sakhalin2 project. In the West of the country, in Ust-Luga district (Leningrad Region), the construction of a complex for processing ethane-rich gas is ongoing. The complex includes gas liquefaction capacities. Also in Leningrad Region, #Gazprom is operating the #PortovayaLNG medium-tonnage #LNG production facility near the Portovaya compressor station. Along with this, the company is actively developing small-tonnage #LNG production in Russia. These products are used primarily for autonomous #gasification of consumers located far from gas pipeline infrastructure, and for refuelling vehicles. Today, #Gazprom operates eight small-tonnage #LNG complexes in the country's regions. Two of them, in the Amur and Volgograd regions, were commissioned in 2023. The complex in Amur Region is primarily intended to supply gas to the new boiler house in the Amurselmash microdistrict of Belogorsk. In Volgograd Region, municipal buses in the city of Volgograd are refueled with #LNG. A number of projects are underway. Among them are complexes in Tyumen Region for refuelling gas-powered vehicles and in Tomsk Region for autonomous #gasification of consumers in five settlements. In addition, #Gazprom is working to expand the scope of #LNG in transport, in particular, in agriculture. With the support of #Gazprom, the first models of tractors and a combine harvester powered by #LNG have been manufactured in Russia. Other promising areas of #LNG use include rail and water transport, and industrial equipment. In particular, new models of domestically-built special-purpose automobile and construction equipment fuelled by compressed natural gas (#CNG) and #LNG were presented at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (#SPIGF2024) held earlier this month. The issue of progress in implementing projects in the field of #LNG production and supply will be submitted to #Gazprom's Board of Directors for consideration. Domestic extraction plays a crucial role in securing Germany's raw material supply, but it’s an energy-intensive industry with significant emissions. 🌱⚙️ Through ELMAR, we’re exploring and researching the implementation of electric and automated transport vehicles for on-site material hauling, offering a promising pathway to lower emissions. The approaches developed so far have been tested in the first demo phase this year and provided valuable insights and experiences and we are eagerly looking forward what the next phase in 2025 has in store for us.
