Prof. Lika Merabishvili, StrategEast's Regional Director for the Caucasus, recently appeared on Euronews Georgia and Business Evening on BMG to discuss the "Build with AI for Sustainable Growth" project organized by StrategEast in collaboration with Google and supported by USAID’s FGI. Georgian startups CultivaAi and AI IA Hydro are among the 21 finalists who will showcase their innovative AI solutions at the final hackathon in Astana, Kazakhstan, on October 18. French tech went through a bit of a lull recently — but it seems the rules don’t apply to everyone (at least, not to AI companies). Less than a year after raising a $35m seed round, Paris-based AI-for-biotech startup Bioptimus has just announced a $41m fundraise. The startup certainly ticks some of the boxes that are VC-friendly right now: it’s developing verticalised foundational AI models for biotech — and its cofounding team includes no less than four ex-Google researchers. A year ago, we had Victor Riparbelli, CEO & Co-founder at Synthesia, on stage at our first AI for All conference. As a Dane, I'm so proud that Synthesia, with Danish founders, has become one of Europe's most valuable AI startups with yesterday's Series D funding, valuing the company at $2,1B but, more importantly, having 1M users and +50,000 happy corporate customers.
