Acme Solar, Adani Renewable Energy and ReNew have emerged winners in Solar Energy Corp. of India’s 1 GW solar tender. #solarenergy #india #solarpower

Under a moderate scenario, the report said India could install 30 GW of cumulative floating solar capacity from 2024 to 2040. They assumed 1 MW of floating PV would require capital expenditures equalling a levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of INR 4.32 ($0.052)/kWh. The research team assumed an annual reduction of 2.5% in capex, resulting in a gradual decline of the LCOE from floating PV plants, starting from 2024 and extending through 2040. The LCOE is expected to drop to INR 3.72/kWh by 2030 and INR 2.90/kWh by 2040.

Reliance Power was allocated 930 MW at INR 3.53/kWh, less than its bid for 1 GW. Developers will build, own, and operate the projects, which can connect to the interstate transmission system from any location in India. SECI plans to sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the winners. Power from these projects will be sold to India’s various buying entities. The tender requires energy storage systems (ESS) of at least 0.5 MW/2 MWh capacity for each 1 MW solar project. ESS must use solar power for charging and can be owned by developers or secured through third parties. Developers can change ESS technology during the PPA term."
