Carbon monoxide (CO) emerges as the leading threat in the effluents produced during a fire. A combined cycle power plant wanted to improve asset protection and power generation. Veolia recommended a volatile filmer, Polyamine Plus*, to reduce corrosion and improve heat transfer. By enabling dropwise condensation on the condenser tubes, heat transfer was more efficient and increased condenser performance by ~1.6%. This meant the plant operated more efficiently, saving $50,000 in operational cost annually and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by ~16,700 MT CO2 per year.
