#ICYMI: Pure Hydrogen Corporation (ASX: PH2) has executed a Term Sheet with GreenH2 LATAM for the distribution of zero-emission vehicles and hydrogen equipment. Key highlights: - Pure Hydrogen has executed a term sheet with GreenH2 LATAM for the distribution of hydrogen trucks, battery electric and hydrogen buses, hydrogen equipment (including production & refuelling infrastructure) and hydrogen generators in Mexico, Latin America, and Africa. - The agreement will be for a term of 36 months from the anticipated supply commencement date. - The agreement further strengthens Pure Hydrogen's global distribution network, following on from two recent partnerships in the US market. - Pure Hydrogen continues to establish a strong competitive position in rapidly growing North American markets for zero-emission vehicles. - The agreement is subject to Pure Hydrogen demonstrating that it has arrangements in place to ensure the battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles will satisfy all applicable laws and that GreenH2 LATAM orders at least 20 vehicles within 12 months of the term sheet being signed. Explosive report lays blame for Callide C blast In news that should surprise no one, the Callide coal-fired power station disaster in 2021 that plunged much of Queensland into the dark was caused by the decision to cut maintenance costs at the critical power station. It was not because it was ‘aging’ - it was a choice by the operators and owners to cut corners on what they clearly deemed a piece of sunk infrastructure not worth adequate investment: endangering not only our energy security but lives. All this, despite referring to it as a “supercritical coal-fired power station” on their website. Who owns and runs Callide? The Queensland Government through its Government Owned Corporation (GOC) CSenergy. No wonder the privately owned JV partners of Callide C (IG Power) were keen to get hold of Sean Brady’s report - and why the government fought so hard to have it suppressed.

The Future Gas Strategy has highlighted that for the east coast market to have sufficient supply to 2050, the development of new gas fields has an important role to play, in combination with a variety of other measures.   Noel Newell, executive chair of 3D Energi – a Bass Strait explorer in a joint venture with energy giant ConocoPhillips – said there was now a “significant contradiction in gas policy between the largest Australian gas user state, Victoria, and the new federal strategy”.   “Real action and government leadership is now needed to address the barriers to new gas supply and investment and to re-establish Australia’s position as a reliable and trusted trade and investment partner,” he said.   “Without future investment, there are real risks gas will become unaffordable and unavailable to Australian households and industry well before 2050,” the strategy said.   3D Energi sees a strong opportunity in the Otway to deliver new gas reserves to the east coast market in time to address the impending gas supply shortfall towards the end of the decade.   https://lnkd.in/gsdfa_Dm

Renewables: A Closer Look Are “renewables' truly renewable? The answer may surprise you. This term, often associated with sustainability, can be deceiving. The reality is, renewable energy sources are not as green as they seem. The process of creating, maintaining, and disposing of renewable energy systems is resource-intensive and capital-consuming. Moreover, these systems have relatively short lifespans of 10-20 years, requiring constant maintenance and backup from traditional energy sources like coal, gas, or even nuclear power in certain regions. It's crucial for political leaders to comprehend these facts. Supporting renewables without understanding their full impact perpetuates a fraud that affects not only humans but also our native wildlife. Those who turn a blind eye to these realities should be held accountable through legal means and at the polls. Let's strive for a truly sustainable future based on informed decisions and genuine environmental stewardship.

In a critical step forward for domestic solar manufacturing, the U.S. Department of the Treasury ruled that U.S. solar wafer projects are now eligible for tax credits under the CHIPS and Science Act. This allows U.S. companies to obtain a 25% credit for these projects, with the hope of boosting investment in American solar manufacturing. Some strong commentary in this story on the importance of continuing to advance major gas projects in Australia. Australian gas production provides domestic energy security, feedstock for key industries and is also critical to the energy landscape of Asia - an importance that will only grow as emerging economies in the region seek out an alternative to coal in power generation. 👉 Awarded Pre-FEED study to enter next phase of CapsolGT® deployment – our CCS technology for gas turbines   Today, we announced that a global provider of gas turbines has awarded Capsol Technologies a pre-FEED study for our cost-effective CCS technology CapsolGT®. CapsolGT® is applicable for open cycle gas turbines ranging from 4 Mwe to 100+Mwe and makes CCS viable for thousands of gas power plants globally. The ambition of the pre-FEED study is to develop a customised CapsolGT® carbon capture solution for several gas turbine types in open-cycle applications, standardise plant design and outline commercial and technical specifications. This, to support the deployment of CapsolGT® in North America and the Middle East. “Looking at the North American market, CapsolGT® has the potential for capture, transport and storage costs below USD 85 per tonne of CO2 (i.e. below the USD 85 tax credit emitters receive per tonne of stored CO2),” says Philipp Staggat, Chief Product Officer of Capsol Technologies ASA, adding that the results of the pre-FEED study will be presented to gas turbine operators and project developers in Q2 2024.
