For example, the children’s goal on the pitch is to kick a goal. We take that aspiration and extend it to our goal off the pitch, to motivate children to wash their hands before eating. As part of National Reconciliation Week the Aurecon Brisbane office hosted the showing of The Final Quarter documentary that charts the final three years of AFL player, Australian of the Year and proud Indigenous leader, Adam Goodes', playing career. The film is a confronting reflection on Australians' attitudes and behaviour towards our First Nations peoples, particularly those who stand up and call out racism. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, prejudice and racism is never ok, and yet we see it played out time and time again in our society. When will we ever learn? We can start by educating ourselves and others and commit to truth-telling, reconciliation, and embracing and celebrating our diversity - in all its forms.
