Trust in biometric technology is decreasing, with only 5% of consumers saying they highly trust how it is handled. Verifiable credential technology offers a solution: 1️⃣ Capture biometric data (e.g., face) by a trusted authority. 2️⃣ Save it as a Uniqueness VC (verifiable credential) and store it in your digital ID wallet. 3️⃣ Present the credential to validate your unique and genuine presence. At this year’s European Identity and Cloud Conference #EIC2024 the application of new and emerging #identity technologies was highlighted in an enlightening presentation by independent advisor to the #travel and #tourism industry, Annet Steenbergen, on the future of digital travel credentials and a fascinating panel discussion on the same topic where Annet was joined by Daniel Bachenheimer, Francois Blanc, Wim van der Lingen of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security's Programme of Border Innovation, Laurent Loup, and Gabriel Marquie. Keen to find out more about the future of identity, particularly in the context of travel, I asked Annet what she considered to be the most significant #innovations in #digital_identity that will have an impact on this sector.
