A dedicated R&D thermal camera can capture more than you may realize. Our team recently used it to visualize the spray from an aerosol can as part of a demonstration showcasing how a thermal camera can detect vapor from a fuel injection system. This technique is only possible thanks to the high frame rate and quick integration time of the FLIR cooled sensor, exclusively found in their X-series range. For instance, the FLIR X6980 can capture footage up to 30kHz. In this particular video, we captured footage at 500Hz, but slowed it down to 30Hz for playback. As you watch until the end, you'll see larger droplets being expelled as the nozzle closes. Do you think this could have other applications?
