Today I cancelled my policy with GEICO after a decade of loyalty. It's important to remember that one of the most crucial lessons of running a business is to keep your current customers happy. Unfortunately, GEICO seemed to forget this. Despite paying on time and having a clean driving record for years, they continued to increase my rates. The most recent increase was almost 30%, with the reason being "everyone is getting a rate increase." I decided to shop around and found quotes significantly less than what I had been paying with GEICO. When I returned to GEICO with these quotes, they said they couldn't match them and that my rates would likely increase with the new company after 6 months. As a loyal customer of 10 years, this wasn't a good enough reason to stay. It's a shame to walk away from a company I've been with for so long, but I refuse to put my money into an organization that doesn't value their current customers. Whether it is where we conduct business or who we work for, I urge everyone to look around for quotes and walkaway when they aren't appreciated and valued. #customerfocused #whygeico #valueyourpeople #knowyourvalue

I believe customer loyalty is not a concern with these large corporations, which is why I make it a point to shop around every 6 months to a year on necessities such as auto insurance, cell phone providers, electricity providers (if applicable), internet etc. being proactive with these has helped me keep rates pretty steady for the most part. Sure it can be a hassle but we’ll worth the savings.

All of them are overpriced! I’ve never had an accident, claim, or ticket. Credit score is in the 800s. Paying for everyone who isn’t insured.

Interestingly enough, I recently canceled my GEICO policy too and switched to State Farm. I'm paying 50% less, even though I got a different vehicle. Crazy, right? I remember when GEICO was the cheaper option...

About eight months ago was the first time I shopped car insurance and well over 10 years. I’ve been with Geico all that time, price just went astronomical so I ended up going with progressive for six months. They jumped up 30% on renewal and for the first time in 15 years, I am with USAA and that’s the first time they’ve been the least expensive.
