By 2050 one in five people will be over 60. The world’s population is aging at a fast pace. The number of aged over 80 is projected to triple from 143 million in 2019 to 426 million in 2050. While every older person is different, physical and mental capacities tend to decline with increasing age. “There needs to be good coordination between the health and social services to provide optimal care when needed. The package of tools supports healthy aging with a person-centered and coordinated model of care.” - Dr. Anshu Banerjee WHO Conclusion? Intervening close to where older people live, with active community participation, is essential for a personalized care plan. We need to increase investments in health education and development to improve geriatric care. Advanced technologies like RPM and telehealth should be leveraged to offer quality health access. What else can be done to improve geriatric care quality with digital health? Share your opinions. David Carreon Tonya Fulwider Charles Coutu-Nadeau

🌟 Exciting developments ahead in healthcare in next decade🌟 #Longevity and the changing landscape of aging are poised to be central topics in health, labor markets, and society. Did you know that half of today's 5-year-olds in advanced economies are expected to live to 100? It's a remarkable shift that calls for proactive measures in our healthcare systems. One of the most pressing issues in this realm is Alzheimer's disease, the most common neurodegenerative condition. However, there's reason for optimism as we stand on the brink of a new era in Alzheimer's treatment. With advancements in early detection tests and emerging therapies, we're moving closer to better management and potentially even prevention of this challenging disease. Looking ahead to the next decade, we can anticipate further strides in Alzheimer's research and care. From refined diagnostic tools enabling earlier intervention to the development of novel therapeutic approaches, the future holds promise for improved outcomes and quality of life for patients. But Alzheimer's is just one piece of the puzzle. As our population ages, we must also address a myriad of other age-related conditions and chronic diseases. This will require a multifaceted approach that encompasses preventive medicine, personalized healthcare, and the integration of technology into healthcare delivery. The 30th IESE Healthcare Meeting, under the the theme #Healthcare2030, co-organized with Deloitte, Ben Meyers and Alberto Lleó, MD PhD with debate these crucial topics moderated by Prof. Núria Mas. Join us as we explore the scientific, medical, societal, and economic implications of l#ongevity and #aging, and chart a course for a healthier future for all. https://lnkd.in/eB_UKUs2 #Healthcare #Longevity #Aging #Alzheimers #Innovation #IESEHealthcareMeeting #Deloitte #FutureofHealthcare #Healthcare2030

A new survey by Cleveland Clinic reveals a troubling trend: nearly 40% of Gen Z men lack a primary care physician. This, coupled with the fact that 74% of men fear cancer, yet screenings and awareness remain low, paints a concerning picture of men's health. As a strong advocate for primary care, I believe these findings highlight a critical need to address the disparities in how different age groups perceive and utilize healthcare. Early intervention and preventive care are essential for maintaining good health and preventing serious illnesses. A primary care physician can be a trusted partner in navigating the healthcare system, providing routine checkups, screenings, and guidance on healthy living. Let's bridge the gap and encourage men of all ages to prioritize their health. #MensHealth #PreventiveCare #PrimaryCare #PublicHealth #GenZHealth https://lnkd.in/eqMjSUUQ

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Maya Nathani faced a deeply personal health crisis—a cancer diagnosis. This experience gave her profound insight into the struggles of vulnerable populations, particularly #seniors. As she recovered, Maya observed firsthand the challenges older adults face daily: complex health conditions, limited mobility, and restricted access to care. Inspired to make a difference, she founded Universal Health Hub (UHH). “We have been serving over a thousand seniors a month … and we realized that …seniors could have avoided so many foot conditions if they could have diagnosed these cases sooner [because] our service is actually called upon very late once the condition has worsened.” Recognizing this #accessibility issue, her team saw an opportunity to develop a predictive and easy digital system and WIMTACH was the right partner to tackle the challenge. WIMTACH worked closely with UHH’s in-house IT talent to train the #AgingFeet Condition Detection with #ArtificialIntelligence (AFCDAI) #machinelearning proprietary model using five years of anonymized patient data. Maya entrusted the WIMTACH research team with developing an Artificial Intelligence model, designed to assist with identifying early signs of foot complications. “Once we connected with WIMTACH, we saw the passion in them to bring in innovation into the healthcare [industry],” she said. “It’s the same passion that … Universal Health Hub has in solving these problems for this vulnerable population in the #community. So, there was a synergy.” #collaboration #AI #AImodels #innovation 👉 Read more about the collaboration: https://lnkd.in/gRZwErYS

Empowering patients to thrive beyond diagnosis 🏥 With tighter budgets and an ageing population, how can we drive better health outcomes with fewer resources? By greater emphasis on #prevention and the right support, we can help patients make meaningful, lasting changes to their health. We explored this question at Healthia® by looking at how individuals manage long-term health conditions post-diagnosis. Through video ethnography, we uncovered real stories—giving voice to patients’ personal challenges, successes, and the support they wish they’d had. Over four months, we partnered with three individuals diagnosed with chronic conditions. Their stories, captured in short, impactful films, give a rare glimpse into their daily lives, the nuanced impacts of their conditions, and the resilience it takes to adapt. 👉 Insight and films: https://lnkd.in/gqWn5j9f #Healthcare #PatientExperience #HealthCareInnovation #NHS #design

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (#NICE) has provisionally approved two new technologies for #Tourette syndrome in a landmark digital health recommendation. The technologies include: - Online Remote Behavioural Intervention for Tics (ORBIT) - Nepulse From a survey of more than 1,500 people – which included those with lived experience as well as carers and parents – NICE found that diagnosis can take anywhere between six months to two years and current treatment options are limited. The technologies are only at the draft guidance stage, with NICE’s consultation now underway and open until 17 December. At present, both technologies will be made available to the NHS for three years, so more evidence can be generated to determine: - long-term clinical effectiveness; - quality of life impact; and - who benefits most. #digitalhealth #healthtechnology #digitaltherapeutics #DTx https://lnkd.in/eiZXTCaA
