We all know U-values are important. Significant gaps, whether as a result of thermal bridging, poor design, or poor installation, causes greater heat loss because they allow warm air out. It can also increase the risk of condensation, which can cause significant issues such as mould or mildew. Tune in to our new 'U-value Calculations and Condensation Risk' CPD via the link below: #CPD #BuildingMaterials #Condensation

EMF 400 - 384 Successfully delivered to Australian customers - These mixed flow end suction pumps are sometimes termed "short & fat" somewhat derisively because they deliver large flows at relatively small heads. Designing them successfully is, however, not very simple and it requires the special skills of our designers to keep the shut-off head and power control, to obtain high efficiency, and to keep an unavoidable recirculation gone as far away from the operating zone as possible We are happy that EMF 400-384 meets all these requirements with splendid ease. #mixedflowpumps #endsuction #splitcase #centrifugalpumps #design #power #power #efficiency

CompressionFit & Slip Lining Q&A 💬 What distance can you pull to replace large diameter transmission mains (16" through 78")?? In urban environments, we look for 2,000 foot pulls. While it's possible to install up to 1 mile at a time, the layout in urban environments makes it challenging to install these ultra distances. We also have the ability to fuse-pull-fuse-pull during installation so major intersections are not disturbed. The 📸 below is replacing a 42-inch steel sewer force main using the #CompressionFit process with a pull distance of 1,500 feet.

On Site Ep.2 - Thermal Inspection 🌇 Go behind the scenes and see how Maple Reinders is using thermal inspections to improve build quality at every step of the construction process. On this sprawling logistics facility we've performed heat loss inspections on walls and glazing, solar array mapping to confirm manufacturer quality, and here we are inspecting the roof membrane for signs of moisture infiltration. During the years performing thermal inspections for The Garland Company, Inc. across Canada, you develop a pattern recognition process when analyzing different roof systems for anomalies. Back then this process was done on foot (working alone, at night, at heights). Now I can cover vast areas so much quicker, at the optimal top down camera angle with a powerful sensor, having safety concerns greatly reduced. Thermal building analysis will always a balancing trick though. Actively identifying detrimental deficiencies ✅ VS proactively creating non-issues ❌. The right tools and experience help with that. Suction Specific Speed (Nss) Suction specific speed (Nss) is an index of suction hydraulic design for centrifugal pumps. Pumps that are in close range in Nss have similar suction characteristics. It indicates the pumps’ susceptibility to internal suction flow recirculation and cavitation – higher Nss values indicate higher susceptibility. The term suction specific speed is a misnomer because it is not a unit of speed and is considered dimensionless. Read the whole article in the uploaded file here:
