An Open Letter to Salespeople from Josh Braun Relax. Just relax. It’s not your job to talk people into buying. You don’t control when or if people buy, so it’s madness to obsess over it. All that matters is that you show up and do the work to the best of your ability. That’s all you can do. There’s peace and tranquility in that. We tend to think about sales as just results. But closing isn’t the only point of selling. It’s also about opening. Opening you up to the wonderful people you meet. Opening you up to new skills. Opening you up to different perspectives. All of that makes you a more interesting person, no matter what the results are. Nobody has it all figured out. I think it’s helpful to view sales as a series of tiny experiments. We can’t predict the outcomes. Whatever the results, we learn something that informs future experiments. If you approach sales with a mindset of experimenting and detaching from the results, the work becomes easier and more enjoyable.

Shg̱agwéi (Skagway) is acknowledging its history through a more inclusive lens. The Skagway Visitors Guide now opens with a land acknowledgment and incorporates traditional languages, reflecting its Indigenous roots. Skagway’s Shoreline Park Facility features stunning Lingít formline double-eagle art by local artist Néechxwúduyaa Beau Dennis, symbolizing the growing recognition of Shg̱agwéi’s rich cultural heritage. Seasonal workers are being educated on the cultural history of the area. In 2023, the ‘Welcome to Shg̱agwéi’ program was launched to educate seasonal workers on the culture and history of this place. Facilitated by Jamie Bricker, Skagway Tourism Director and President of the Skagway Traditional Council, the program hosted 20+ events in 2024, partnering with local organizations like the National Park Service, Skagway Bird Club, Skagway Traditional Council, and more. From free narration courses to cultural host classes, this initiative ensures seasonal workers are well-informed to share Shg̱agwéi’s story with over a million visitors each year. The mystical town of Mompox was the home of Alma Air for the week as Chief Commercial Officer Rupert Stebbings attended the Cotelco Capitulo Cartagena y Bolívar symposium in the town. The idea of Colteco is to build close connections with its Bolivar cities and towns, accordingly both the Governor of the state and Mayor of Mompox were in attendance. The tourism ambitions for Cartagena, Mompox and the rest of Bolivar are extensive. There were workshops for the local hotels which Importantly included the support of Fundación Renacer who are helped fight the scourge of the sexual exploitation of minors by tourists, something that Mompox, unlike other cities, has avoided, and long may it remain that way. The ongoing challenge is connectivity and Alma Air is here to help in that regard.
