Holiday Baking Challenge ACCEPTED! It was QMM’s Edmonton folks spreading good cheer (along with icing) as they baked and decorated cookies in support of YESS | Youth Empowerment & Support Services in Edmonton. YESS is a youth support centre that provides 24/7, single-point access to immediate and low-barrier physical, mental, cultural, and emotional health supports—and a safe place to stay—for youth aged 15-21 experiencing crisis in the Edmonton Metro Area. Kudos to QMM’ers Bob Bezanson, Jennifer Keumbehdjian & Shaina Hanison, who will obviously be making Santa’s “Nice List” this year! #QMMCares

1 in 6 children & young people contacted yourtown's #KidsHelpline service in 2023 regarding family relationship issues. Let's work towards creating a culture where those impacted by Domestic & Family Violence are believed & supported. Respectful relationships start early, & we are committed to being there for children & young people across Australia for support & counselling, anytime any reason. Comments like "why didn't you just leave" or "they seemed like such a nice person" only enable unacceptable behaviour. Such comments also make it harder for those who are impacted to seek help, as they may blame themselves or feel ashamed. Thanks to the support of Bupa, our Kids Helpline @ School program can start respectful relationships conversations early in Primary School. Here’s a useful link for parents about how to start those respectful relationship conversations: https://lnkd.in/gpFK5d89 Let's join hands and make Australia a safer place for everyone. #EndDomesticViolence #RespectfulRelationships #KidsMatter #yourtownAU

Street children are a growing concern in many African countries, with issues ranging from poverty and family breakdown to lack of access to education and healthcare. Many of these children end up living on the streets, facing numerous dangers such as exploitation, abuse, and malnutrition. African communities are increasingly recognizing the need to address the root causes of this problem and provide support for these vulnerable children. Efforts to provide shelter, education, and healthcare for street children are being made, but more resources and attention are needed to ensure the well-being and future prospects of these marginalized youth. TGIF! Street children are very vulnerable and highly prone to becoming victims of trauma and stress. As a result, it is important to know how to support vulnerable children dealing with trauma and stress. Here are 3 ways to help: 1️⃣ Provide Emotional Support: Create a safe space where children can express their feelings. Show empathy and understanding to help them cope better. 2️⃣ Implement Trauma-Informed Care: Understand the impact of trauma on children's development. Use strategies that acknowledge their experiences and promote healing. 3️⃣ Engage in Therapeutic Activities: Encourage activities like art, play, music, or mindfulness to help children process their emotions. If needed, seek professional help. Together, we can make life better for all children, even the ones on the streets! #sccwi #streetchildren #careforchildren #kindness #compassion #empathy #mentalhealth #healing https://lnkd.in/dGgAtKaB

🎲 Why Early Exposure Matters 🎲 Research shows that the earlier a person is exposed to gambling, the more likely they are to develop a gambling problem later in life. Young men, in particular, are at a higher risk—they gamble at higher rates and participate in higher-risk gambling activities than young women. This holiday season, let’s commit to protecting our youth. #GiftResponsibly by keeping lottery tickets and gambling out of children’s gifts. At CMSU Behavioral Health & Developmental Services, we’re dedicated to promoting healthy choices and building stronger families in Columbia, Montour, Snyder, and Union counties. 💡 Learn more about how we’re supporting our community: Visit CMSU.org. #CMSUBehavioralHealth #GiftResponsibly #HealthyChoices #YouthWellness #StrongerFamilies #CommunitySupport #ColumbiaCountyPA #MontourCountyPA #SnyderCountyPA #UnionCountyPA

Come learn about the five characteristics of strong families and how to promote them!
Join us Monday to Tuesday, June 10th-11th at Northeast Delta Dental for the Strengthening Families Framework: Bringing the Protective Factors to Life. Every family has its strengths, and all families can thrive when these strengths, called protective factors, are fostered in their lives and communities. Professionals who work with children and families can promote protective factors that support parents, strengthen families, and boost children’s development. There are five family strengths, known as protective factors, and when they are present and robust, families thrive, children grow, and communities flourish. The Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework® identifies these five protective factors and everyday actions that anyone whose work touches parents can take to promote them in families. For more information contact: programs@nhchildrenstrust.org https://lnkd.in/e_VWwznZ #StrengtheningFamilies #ProtectiveFactors #FamilyStrengths #ChildrenDevelopment #CommunitySupport #ParentingSkills #FamilyThrive #ChildWellbeing #CommunityDevelopment #FamilySupport
