As industry challenges continue to grow, it’s never been more important to make maximum use of the data available for pipeline leak detection. Crucial to this is the deployment of hardware that allows pipeline operators to access more data, resulting in a more effective leak detection system. In this article, Sales and Senior Research Engineer Harry Smith discusses a range of hardware and software that can support a data driven approach to leak detection, from non-intrusive instrumentation to upgraded algorithms. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dJMVE9YN Pipeline Technology Journal - ptj #leakdetection #pipelineleak #leakdata

Question: In a PLC system, how does the resolution of an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) affect the accuracy of data acquisition from field transmitters? A) Higher ADC resolution decreases the sampling rate, reducing the amount of data the PLC can process in real-time. B) Higher ADC resolution allows for more precise differentiation between signal levels, improving the granularity of the measured variable. C) Lower ADC resolution increases noise resistance, leading to more accurate readings from the field transmitters. D) The resolution of the ADC has no significant impact on the accuracy of the data acquisition, as the PLC uses filters to refine signal quality. Day 10 of #100daysofcodingchallenge 🚀 Today's Achievement: 🔍 Solved a coding problem involving gas stations and circular routes! Problem Statement 📝 Given two integer arrays A and B of size N representing gas availability and cost to travel between stations, respectively. There are N gas stations along a circular route. You start the journey with an empty tank at one of the gas stations. Return the minimum starting gas station's index if you can travel around the circuit once, otherwise return -1. Conditions: 🚗 You can only travel in one direction: i to i+1, i+2, ... n-1, 0, 1, 2. ⛽ Completing the circuit means starting at i and ending up at i again. Explanation 🧩 ->Calculate Total Gas Available and Total Gas Required: Initialize sumA and sumB to store total gas available and required. Calculate sums using loops over arrays A and B. ->Check if Solution is Possible: If sumA < sumB, return -1 (impossible to complete circuit). ->Iterate Over Gas Stations: Loop through gas stations, maintaining current gas variable. Update start index if current gas becomes negative. ->Return Result: If a solution exists, return start index. If no solution, return -1. Overall, this approach efficiently finds the minimum starting gas station index or returns -1 if no solution exists. Good job! 👍 #interviewbit #codingchallenges

Power engineering is fun when it is practical! USA Colorado Grid. I initiated the capture of data from 4 feeders in a substation. Notice something? The time is IDENTICAL. STUNNING! Now, you can learn from practical data! Time: 10 hours 34 minutes 49 seconds. Milliseconds are nearly identical. 58ms, 61ms, 59ms, 56ms. 1- Is the system balanced? 2- Is there a fault? 3- What is the power factor? 4- What is the direction of real power? 5- What is the direction of reactive power? 6- Are the entire feeders lagging? 7- Are the entire feeders leading? 8- Which feeder is lagging? Which feeder is leading? 9- There are so many fun things to learn What I did is impossible to replicate. You cannot initiate data capture from 4 feeders at the same time within milliseconds. So, how did I do it? That is my secret sauce 😁 Power is fun; play with it, enjoy it, and you will be rewarded. EEEngineering, LLC #engineering #electricalengineering #powersystems #epassa
