The 8th Annual IPF Summit is underway in Boston📍 Yesterday's workshop included discussions on current animal models which do not necessarily recapitulate what occurs in human disease and historically, there has been poor translatability from the lab to the clinic. 💭 The big questions posed... ❓What is the right model that will work with people❓ ❓How do we want to target these therapies to each model❓ ❓What should we target and how do we deliver these therapies❓ Let's continue the discussion on day 2! Catherine Ulich, Senior Field Application Scientist is on hand if you would like to discuss our human tissue culture models: https://lnkd.in/gitvF6Gh #Newcells #IPFSummit #LungModels

Imputing protein expression and localization from H&E images is an impressive advancement, Aaron. I'm curious how this approach might be extended to capture dynamic changes or temporal variations in protein expression. Wishing you continued success!
Excited to share our recent work on imputing the expression and localization of dozens of proteins from H&E images. At Enable Medicine, we are leveraging models such as ROSIE to help build the largest cellular atlas of disease. If you are interested in learning more about these efforts, please reach out. Congrats and thanks to all of our collaborators on this project. I'm very excited to continue building upon this foundation with the field. https://lnkd.in/gpkX82mw

Arguing immunology, toxicology, infectious diseases, pathology, or epidemiology with Physicians for Informed Consent, Children's Health Defense, or the McCullough Foundation, is a lot like engaging with this spirited caller to his local meteorologist. He has done his own research on tornados and traffic circles, and he is utterly convinced of the intellectual underpinnings of his arguments. Katie Nickolaou delightfully echos the pained disbelief of those of us in the biomedical sciences who deal with people of similar convictions, who sadly risk their own health and that of their children by accepting the charismatic, laser-polished, overly-simplistic, too-good-to-be-true medical disinformation that these organizations peddle. PLEASE don’t become a victim of health influencer culture and grassroots antiscience organizations when it comes to medical advice. Trust actual experts who understand and stay abreast of legitimate medical science. Anyone who tells you that they have found something that all the world’s experts somehow missed by way of authority or conspiracy or lost wisdom of the ancients, is almost always trying to sell you something: it might be a product, or it might be an ideology, but it is neither factual nor evidence-based, and it definitely isn’t good for you.

Oh while we're (always!) talking about testing...it seems lack of access to patient results is a pain-point for everyone!! A recent survey of Australian GPs revealed re-ordering of tests (within a fortnight even!) is pretty common because the original patient results hadn't been uploaded by the companies While this is a huge waste of public money I would argue the even bigger LOSS of all this missing data is regarding our insights and understanding of our patients!!! As flagged by Dr Ollie Waters from MyPathology (note interesting not-for-profit company largely funded by disillusioned doctors!!), who says to gain the greatest insights we need to view our patients' results collated and side by side which is impossible when such accessibility issues are endemic!!! Gee wizz that sounds familiar!!! AND (also hauntingly familiar!!) they have tried to provide a solution by way of new software that collates (regardless of service provider), compares and even graphs the movement across one parameter over time I like your thinking!! This was the original intention in our creation of the Patient Pathology Manager which many praccies love and can't live without and is constantly under-construction to increase its friendliness and functionality...when it grows up it wants to be the integrative version of https://lnkd.in/gSavDmHX How do you manage to pick the pathology patterns, at one time point across different panels and even more so across multiple time points, without a tool like this?? I am so keen to hear
